Nice game! I love the graphics and the music used for it, but the gameplay, I feel it needs somewhat of polishing. Here's what I feel needs work:

  • A play button and restart button is REALLY needed. I wanted to retry the game again to try and get a better high score, but I have to keep reloading the page just to restart it
  • I feel the pumpkin basket needs to be programmed so that it stays within the cameras viewpoint. When I was fiddling with the controls a bit, I accidentally sent the pumpkin box really far away from my character and I was thinking for a second that I broke the game for a bit so I couldn't grab any candy XD
  • I don't know if you designed it like this but the character won't move back, only forward.
  • Also, this isn't really a problem and I don't know if you wanted to design it like this as well, but I can't get candy and chop off the characters head in the process.

These are the things I feel you could use improvement. It's up to you though if you want to implement this. Overall, splendid game!

Thanks for the detailed feedback! Yeah, I wanted to at least get a restart button in there but by the time I finished my game loop I was out of time );

The last two are by design. You can only move forward cause the way the level gen works (although now reading this I think it could be simplified by just making the player move forward automatically) and you can only either kill or take candy so you have to strategize to maximize your score (Wanted to add an animation where they go back inside after getting you candy but ran out of time)

Nice interpretation of the theme. I really like the simulated candy drops and it looks very polished for a 6 hours game. Even got audio feedback in.

This is a good representation of what an interactive horror movie based on halloween would look like. Pretty good for 6 hours!
