Finally ran it yesterday evening to two new players. A lot of fun was had. They sussed out the enclave from the random encounter of the Spore servants, but they were sure the enclave was hostile. The golden egg relic was the lynching pin of their plan against the other feather hunters. In the end they chose to protect the arboreal geese.
For me, the random encounters felt easily tied to the locations or to each other, giving me all I needed to create a cohesive experience. The blank map was clear enough so that they could track their journey.
:Admire: Thanks for a great product.
Not sure how much I enjoy procedural solo gaming in general; however, this system provided a fantastic experience. It presents a unique way to generate narrative, or in the language of the author, a riddle (or several) with a solution that's not predetermined.
It would even be possible to write „scenarios“ (or new environments) for this, a swamp, a mountain range etc. Much like writing a case for Brindlewood Bay!
The procedures themselves weren’t really easy to understand for me. I believe I couldn‘t even have started playing without the note-taking examples, I never would have known what kinds of questions to ask of the oracle.
Ran this as a oneshot, was straightforward but fun.
Worked super great as an introduction to the hobby. Had a lot of fun GMing this. It's easy to get up and running and has some great tables for tension and flavor. Will run this again!
