The gloomy ambiance is nice. I love the vegetables with eyes and spooky details. I can say that the systems work well. You got the cleaning plots, planting seeds, harvesting working nicely. Even got a crafting system.
Now, having to drag and drop every single item every single time feels like a chore after 10 minutes playing :( Especially for the cooking, since there seems to be only one recipe and it needs 3 vegetable. I've spent so much time dragging and dropping things into this pot ^^' I got to say we spent a lot of time wondering how to make the UI in our game and even now, w're not satisfied. I think we spent 4 days just trying to design something efficient and we're not there at all. UI are a real pain in the ass!
The train characters design is funny, and the gravy ruling the world had me laughing! I think you still have a lot to work on but this is a very solid start!
We appreciate you taking the time to play and your kind words! The drag and dropping for the cooking was unfortunately more of a compromise solving the issue that we did not have a way to split stacks of items, so the alternative way of just dragging the whole stack into the pot meant if you had a stack of only one type of crop you couldn't cook anything. The real solution would be some quality of life stuff like a cook all button or maybe implementing a split feature but unfortunately time restraints meant we just had to get it functional above all else. Basically what I'm saying is I very much agree with your assessment about UI lol. I'm glad you had some fun and a appreciate the advice!
I think UI has been a struggle for us all ^^
Thanks to the previous comments I was able to get the controls fairly quickly. I liked the art direction a lot. The eye bamboo was super rad.
I'm glad that was able to help out a bit, sorry some stuff came out a bit obtuse. We really appreciate you giving it a shot though! I ended up quite happy with the bamboo as well so I'm glad people seemed to like it!
Solid entry!!!
I had a tad bit of a hard time figuring out the controls, but that's my fault for not looking at the page directly, because I downloaded the game from this submissions page.
I never encountered the camera glitch, but I did use that button to teleport to that spot to be closer to the train, lol.
This world definitely offers intrigue, and I was interested in what the spooky tree amalgamations were and who the train people were.
A pause button would be a welcome addition to make it easier to close the game or have a tutorial option too with controls and directions.
Thanks so much for trying it out! Yeah we struggled with tutorializing and conveyance a bit, ideally stuff would be more intuitive and the game would teach you in natural ways, relying on the game's page is definitely a compromise so that's not on you. Very clever use of the debug button though lol. I'm glad you vibed with the ambiance though, I think the pieces did come together pretty cohesively on that front.
