Please briefly explain how you interpreted some aspects of the game design document when creating your game!
Hello! There was a big plan to interpret every emoji in the GDD, but in the end a bunch of stuff was cut (shocking I know)

πŸŒ… Ripple🌊 (Both the emoticons have water in them)

Summary: You are leading your best friend πŸ’Œ to your favourite tyre swing, by building bridges. The longer you take on a level ⌚, the harder it becomes.

Player experience goals: The entire game revolves around the giant squid πŸ™ in the sky. Each level is caused by her passing by, filling up the ink lakes that the main characters have to cross. Your main goal is to overcome the ink.

Key features:πŸ’ƒ πŸ” ... I can't remember how I was interpreting these ;-;

Genre: 🎣 Water, and 🎨 art. >.>

Target audience: People with a face and handsβœŒοΈπŸ”˜πŸ‘…πŸ”˜βœŠ

Gameplay and mechanics
πŸŒ‰ Bridge building!
πŸ“· At the end of each level, a "your best moment" replay was going to be shown. This would involve the character getting splashed by ink, or falling face-first into the ink. Something purposefully mediocre.
πŸ“Ž Adding pieces to bridges ("attachments")
βœ‚οΈ Dicarding pieces (cut / remove)

Narrative and character
πŸ‘© Your friend.
The squid πŸ‘Ύ, shooting ink everywhere πŸŒ‹. She spends the majority of the game in the sky πŸ’. (edit: I thought this was a shuttlecock <.<)

Graphics and interface
πŸ“ˆ There were going to be general statistcs at the end of each level (bridge pieces placed, enemies beaten, time taken.
🎯 You have to be reaally accurate when placing bridge pieces. :<

Audio
🐌 Snails were going to be one of the enemies, but didn't make it in.
🐸 The green circle enemy was going to be a spiky frog with croaking and everything.
🎺 🎺 🎺 Swinging music / brass.

Technical aspects and other considerations
β™Ώ 🌈 A colour-blind mode was planned, but the art style ended up being very simple. Still need to check that bridge pieces are visible against other level elements.
🌈 The squid is married to another woman

Version 2 did not work for me (instead of the water loading in, there was a large gap where the title screen still showed and I couldn't seem to place bridges), but luckily I didn't run into any issues with the original.  Overall, I really like the mechanics, though I think a little a bit more leniency when it comes to inaccuracy would be beneficial.  Things like having the cursor snap to a valid area to place a bridge when near it would also make the gameplay a little smoother.  Overall, I really liked this, and the environment is very well presented, and the ripple and water effects are a nice addition.

Hi Steven Miller, thanks for the comment! I've uploaded another version which fixes the bug you mentioned, thanks for reporting it. Placing bridge pieces is definitely too finicky; the snap-to idea sounds like a good solution. The worst part is placing the last piece and I wasn't able to find an easy solution for that (maybe a very large "final area" would work?).
