Yes, i drew the characters and other things except the tileset
Did your team create most of/all the audio yourselves?
No, I used royalty free packs that i own for the audio
How did you incorporate the theme "INSIDE OUT"?
You can play as a brain both inside and out of your head. The brain must be outside to complete certain tasks.

That's... one way to interpret the theme😂! Literally popping your brain out was not one of the ideas that I would have come up with lol. The gameplay is really cool and seems speedrunable because of the fast-paced nature. All in all, really loved the game, great entry! 😊
It was a strange idea but the first thing to pop into my head, so I tried to focus on the brain pop mechanic mostly. Thanks for playing and I'm glad you liked it 😊
Fun game with a great take on the theme. Nice level design and funny animations. Great submission!
Thanks for playing
My feedback for Mind Over Matter:
What your game does well:
Great mechanic that incorporates the theme 'inside out'. Both character roles must be used for the player to beat each level.
Your setting is original. Not many games where you pop your brain out to complete objectives and then put your brain back like it never happened.
The character assets are well drawn and easily-readable. The player knows exactly who/what they're controlling.
What your game doesn't do well:
The sound effects are really loud in comparison to the soundtrack.
On the first level where the player is supposed to eject their brain, it isn't made clear in the game how to do this at all. I wasn't able to get past the level until I read the description.
While the leaderboard is good for creating community and competition around your game, it encourages the opposite of what each level is encouraging from the player. That is, some levels in the game feel like puzzles to solve but the player has to rush to figure them out because, although it's not required, they are aware that they are being timed. So naturally they will try to be quick.
Areas of Opportunity:
You can take your game in one or both directions, but separately: speed-running and puzzle-solving. You have the levels, and the code to continue to build on this. I recommend making two separate game modes for this.
I'd also find a way to teach the player the controls directly within the game. I can't be the only person who tried to jump through the small hole as a human.
I hope this feedback helps!
Thanks for the valuable feedback. I should probably make an audio manager to control music/SFX. I would have liked some in game controls tutorial but didn't get around to it but yeah totally agree. I never though about the leaderboard like that, thanks, maybe a puzzle mode and a time trial mode would be good. Thanks for your feedback
Love the concept. Freaked me out when my brain popped out. Awesome sound effects too!
Thanks for playing
Amazing game! Loved the concept, the art and music were great. Extremely fun!
Thanks for playing
Very fun game, I think this one is in my top 10 for sure
Thanks so much I'm glad you enjoyed it
Hahaha, hilariously funny game. I just went to play it without reading any instructions and in level 3 I tried to jump through the hole by jumping up (up arrow) and immidiatelly pressing down arrow to crouch in midair. Imagine my surprise when the brain left the head and was able to moving on its ovn (but the trick was that jumping was needed to move horizontally, but on the oter hand it could clibm on wall - wow). So I am rating all 5 / 5, just audio 4 / 5 (and I am a totally tolerant person).
Thanks for playing I'm glad you liked it, it can be pretty surprising at first. I wanted to make the brain really acrobatic with movement like a ninja but at the same time, squishy
I wish the guy was a little bit faster, other than that it's pretty good.
Thanks for playing, yeah he's pretty slow. I was trying to make a noticable difference between the brain and body to make the brain feel overpowered but I also think he's a bit too slow
Nice one, I stopped at level 10, if I knew there was a leaderboard I'd have pushed myself a bit more :')
It's a great idea with great execution, walk speed is too slow for my liking and the brain jumping by mistake on the head cause me great pain, but the controls are good, the concept is original and fun, and overall the game is simply well polished for a game jam with nothing really lacking. One of the nice games of the Jam.
GG
Ooo so close, you got right to the end, level 10 is the final level. I didn't have much time to polish the last 2 levels, they're significantly harder than the other levels. I agree, I didn't spend too much time on the human, only the brain. Maybe I could've made a button press to enter and exit the body to fix that. Thanks for playing and the valuable feedback
Interesting take on the theme, The SFX and music make it feel like a mobile game, and if that’s what your going for then great! (i even noticed you took touch controls into account) It was surprisingly fun!
overall: 7/10
Thanks for playing. I try to make my games playable on as many devices as possible. On some devices it doesn't go full screen but still works on mobile if the player wishes to play that way
good to know!
I loved the level Design and game concept and the sheer pain in the characters voice when the brain comes out is "Chef's kiss".
Thanks for playing, the brain pop mechanic was the main thing, spent most of my time on that haha
Good Game!
Thanks for playing
Pretty fun puzzle game, very original, it blew my mind :3
Thanks for playing my game. I put a lot of thought into it
I won! Cool concept, I liked the sounds of the brain hahaha.
Congrats on beating it and thanks for playing, not many people have managed to get on the leaderboard. I got the sounds from the unity asset store
I like how the brain sticks everywhere giving you the feel of actually playing with a brain, very enjoyable game!
Thanks for playing glad you liked it, tried my best to make the brain feel as squishy as possible
Quite fun, lvl 10 was a challenge. good job with the mechanics!
Thank you, I made the levels a little bit easier. Some levels towards the end involve walking around in a body to save brain vitality
This brain physics is amazing. Use your brains to pass the level, LOL!
Thanks for playing. I wanted it to move like how I think a brain would move
Very fun I enjoyed it!
Thanks, glad you liked it
