Theme incorporation
The game incorporates the theme of "Cosmic Horror". The premise of the game is inspired by "The Call of Cthulhu" by H.P. Lovecraft, in which an artist witnesses Cthulhu within the artist's dreams. The gameplay focuses on trying to escape without losing your sanity (displayed as heartrate to indicate stress), which can happen by looking directly at the enemy or being too close too them. The idea of incomprehensible horrors driving people insane is also a common trait of Cosmic Horror fiction.

I really like the art style, and the core idea is solid for a jam game. It has lots of nice little polish elements too, like the automap. It is very nearly an extremely solid submission.
However, you built a game where the core game loop is navigating a maze while avoiding a looming monster—and then implemented the core mechanic of such a game loop, movement, poorly.
Here's my playthrough video:
I enjoyed watching your playthrough and am glad that you liked some of the little elements I implemented!
I appreciate your feedback and agree that I should have implemented movement a little differently, which is something I will try to work on if I release an update in the future.
Thanks for playing!
Cool littler crawler! I wasn't able to finish, but I had fun nonetheless. I think if the pills could stack or the 'respawn' timer on cthulu was increased it might help a bit, basically if you use the pills too far away and walk past he catches right up to you and it's impossible to get away. Movement was solid and I liked the handdrawn graphics. Well done!
Glad to hear you had fun!
I appreciate the feedback, and will likely consider tweaking how pills work if I update the game in the future.
Thanks for playing!
Ah, I wish I could have escaped Cthulhus clutches, after he found me, one last time. I used my pills, but could not get away fast enough. The game is super creepy and a very well made version of 3D Monster Maze. Thanks for the heart attack :)
Thanks for playing!
I might just have to add stacking of the pills or perhaps increase their potency if I update game balance in the future.
You're welcome for the heart attack lol
Very nice and effective aesthetics. The labyrinth is really nice as well! Movement felt a bit slow, because I was trying to press buttons too fast and it would eat my first input. Overall nice little game!
I'm glad that you enjoyed!
Thank you for your feedback! Movement is currently at the top of my list of changes for a potential future update.
Thanks for playing!
Nice game. After several attempts, we were finally able to open the door. I liked the evil visual design, which was impactful. Personally, I thought the pill could have been stackable. It might make it easier.
Thank you for playing!
If I update the game in the future, I might try to work on the difficulty of the game so that its better balanced.
And congrats on escaping!
Nice mazerunning game. First time I got caught as I was looking at the fifth key, second time I escaped haha. Was rather enjoyable, though I would've liked movement to be a bit snappier. Would've helped with the whole theme of being chased. Mechanics were good, aesthetics were very pleasant.
Congrats on your escape!
I'll be sure to try and fix-up the movement if I update it in the future.
Thank you!
Simple but challenging.
The music really sells the dread. It was pretty tense when the Cthulhu was in pursuit.
I noticed the movement seemed a lot more responsive after I restarted. I dunno if it has a small data leak somewhere.

Thanks for playing!
I enjoyed watching your playthrough!
Also thanks for the feedback on the movement issues. I might just have to look into the possibility of a leak in the future.
Yes I escaped!
Graphics style works great. Plain but efficient. The game loop is also basic but works well. The movement could be a bit more fluent, and maybe slightly faster. If you don't time the movement correctly it feels un-responsive. The game was generally fun to play but there were not much combat. More like being chased pac-man style.
Anyway solid entry. Good job!
Congrats on escaping!
I'm glad you enjoyed playing!
I did originally consider adding additional combat options, but struggled to come up with something in time that wouldn't thematically clash with vibe I was trying to go for. If I do come up with something, I might add it in the future though.
Thank you for your feedback!
I like the crayon drawn world in which I find myself.
Those pills sure are effective!
Only found 3 keys, alas.
Then I was driven insane. Or had a heart attack. Whichever.
Good game.
Thank you for playing!
I appreciate that you enjoyed my game!
And as for what happened to you, maybe it was both... lol
That was very well done, very nice feelings I got out of this, tense, strategic and also scary, I was able to escape and even tbaged Cthulhu infront of the door while he was stunned, very very cool :')
Thanks for playing!
I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed!
And congrats on tbagging Cthulhu lol
I escaped ! For now ...
The game looks great, I love the look of the horror, the drawings on the wall, and the shadow thing is pretty cool. The oppressive atmosphere is very well rendered by this shadow as well as the sound. I'm very happy you went with turn-based gameplay, the game took me a few tries and was very fun to play to me.
Small nitpick, I think the game could play smoother, like the person before me said as soon as you press a movement button and the character won't move it feels bad.
Overall this was a super cool entry, thanks for sharing.
Congrats on escaping!
I'm glad you enjoyed the game!
Also, I appreciate the feedback about the movement issues. If I update this game in the future, I'll try to improve upon the movement.
Thank you for playing!
Man, that freak’ll really get you, huh? It seems like your best bet is to just get lucky – I found three keys by casual avoidance, but once he got a whiff of me, I couldn’t seem to get far enough away to lose him for good, even with pills.
Something about the delay between movements doesn’t feel good to me. But I liked the scribbly animated padded walls.
Yeah, it can be quite tricky to shake off! What worked best for me in my playtesting was trying to stay well away where possible and using pills only when I felt I needed to, but there is some luck involved, so it might not work for everyone. I imagine there are other strategies that may also work, maybe even better!
Movement was something I was planning on tweaking near the end, but unfortunately didn't quite get around to.
Anyway, thanks for playing!
