Liked the concept of banishing the evil spirits, though something visual was clearly needed to make it understandable that pressing space does indeed work. So there is everything for a good fondation - movement is fast, small inventory-like system with interactions. It looked neat enough too and dark corridors were mixed with lit ones as well as spirits luring around - quite a creepy experience.
Just need a couple of sounds for better atmosphere + a little feedback for an attack and it would be a very solid little game indeed.
Short but atmospheric. The only thing was that there was not enough feedback from the enemy. I even thought my space bar didn't work :) Good job!
Cool concept and especially liked the art, had a few bugs with the enemies where I could walk through some of them. Feedback when attacking/being attacked would be good, also seemed like spamming the attack button allowed me to kill the enemies before they could hit me + seems like they can attack diagonally which we can't. Strafing would also be a plus I think.
Fun concept, and I liked how the enemies animated in; it made it seem like they were emerging from the darkness. The end screen was funny; I liked that you gave me a gold star.
Not too much to add to other reviews, but it's a good start and the movement feels better than some other entries (though, I always prefer separate strafe and turn controls). Love the recycled game over screen :D
Great atmosphere. Music and graphics fit well together. It was fun to play, even with the bugs.
I found the key and exited through the door.
The game looks good, the music is nice and movement feels right.
Lack of combat feedback obviously feels weird even if mashing SPACE will easily defeat anything blocking your way.
Okay, review after actually playing the game. The game visuals are really cool and i like them a lot. Sadly it contains some bugs that made it not really fun like you could walk through every wall from one side. I would also really like some indicator that you actually attack the enemy. I don't know the theme implementation either, but good vs evil counts i guess. I think overally that this game has some potential because the graphics are good, but it needs a lot of polishing
Agreed, definitely has some rough edges, and hopefully we can make a better game in the next game jam. We are really glad you got the chance to play it, and thank you for the feedback, we appreciate the support!
Hey guys, thanks for the feedback so far. I have removed the extra files, and renamed the needed download to 'into_the_crypt.zip' to eliminate the confusion. So sorry for the confusion, and excited to hear more feedback!
The game looks good, but it could have used a little bit more polish and player feedback when you hit or are hit (visual/sound)
Agree! Thank you for feedback!
The game feels pretty cool from the description, but sadly i cannot get it to even start. It crashes right after startup no matter what i try
Same here, can't get it to run. Like the art though!
I got it to run by downloading drive-download-20230408T095128Z-001.zip, which holds all the files.
Fixed! Just download new into_the_crypt.zip
