Spun-off from the annual Sci-Fi One-Shot Jam, the Cyberpunk Mission Jam is all about making missions and adventure modules for your favorite cyberpunk tabletop RPGs. Some notable ones include:

The Rules

  1. Write a mission for any cyberpunk TTRPG of your choice (or make your cyberpunk adventure system-agnostic).
  2. Finish the submission during the jam. No pre-existing missions; we want new stuff.
  3. No AI-generated text or images.
  4. No bigoted submissions.

You are free to submit as many missions as you want and charge whatever you want for them, as long as they each follow the above rules (and you provide community copies for the judges).

Optional Themes

We have a handful of optional themes, to help provide inspiration:

  • Love 2.0.
  • Are You Smarter Than A Megacorp Executive?
  • "This Drone War is Fucked, Man."
  • Urban Exploration.
  • Muppets.

Hard Mode Challenges

Looking for an extra challenge? Here are some additional rules:

  • Limit the submission to a single sheet (two A4/letter pages).
  • Use two or more of the Optional Themes above.
  • No images or diagrams, only text (ASCII art is allowed).
  • Make it system-agnostic.

Does [X] count as cyberpunk?

If you're writing a system-agnostic adventure, it can be easy to push against the bounds of "cyberpunk." I generally trust you (and whoever judges your mission) to determine if something "counts" as cyberpunk.

But remember the rule-of-thumb: cyberpunk is "high-tech, low-life."

Judging

Submissions will be judged based on the following criteria:

  • Legibility. How well-written and easy-to-understand is this mission? This includes clear writing, layout, and organization.
  • Design. How well does this mission apply adventure design principles to create compelling gameplay? This includes scenario structure/flow, encounter design, player objectives, and other game design considerations.
  • Appeal. How appealing (conceptually and stylistically) is this mission? This includes aesthetics, themes, how well it slots into the genre, and any of your preferences.
