Theme Usage
You need to touch enemies to survive. Once you touch an enemy they'll stick to you and you can use them as a shield. Thus you are 'keeping in touch' with the enemies that stick to you.

Genuinely smart design. Do the colors do anything like block damage from the same color?

Thank you for your kind words! Right now the only purpose of the colours is to show the type of the enemy (red shoots you, blue shoots in a circle, and yellow stalks you and runs away when you get close) But i really like the idea of giving the colours more things to do (like absorbing damage from the same colour)
