Super cute squirrel! :) Great project! :)

I played this game on day one and just now realized I'd forgotten to rate it and comment.

There are so many things to love here, from the theming and message to the variety of mechanics you included. I reckon it's a slam dunk. I love 2.5D stuff and thought this is a great example of it done right.

Kudos to the team!

Very good! I love the art style and the companion mechanic. I think having buddies is a great thing in any video game. I did experience one bug, one of the chestnuts fell ontop of the garbage can, making it impossible for me to grab, but I got past it by completing the can. Altogether one of the most polished games with a unique mechanic! (I will say that I don't see how this has to do with trading places.) Great Job!!!

Thanks for playing and your your kind words! Yes, we were aware of this bug with stuck chestnut on top of garbage can, but we decided to ignore it ;-) About how the game is connected to the theme we left two hints. Theoretically the main one is the intro, which probably is not as self explanatory as I thought. The second one is the description of the game on it's itch.io page - I'll paste it here now:

"[...] young person unaware of the consequences litter in a nearby forest. The forest spirits, angry with his actions, incarnate him into a squirrel named Chestnut to show him that the place he treated like a garbage can is someone's home. To redeem himself, he must clear the forest and help his tribe of squirrels collect chestnuts for the winter."

I like the 3D-2D pixel art hybrid look, wonder how it would've looked with sunset colors...
The mechanics were neat, but the game felt a tiny bit too long for me

Also, i guess the squirrels cracked the sciece for cabbage duplication ๐Ÿ˜‚

Overall, one of the most polished games in this jam, good job!

I loved the game and find it super cute! Like the style was nice, I like the visual cue of the pink glowing garbage (but I find the pink glowing was too pretty to be garbage :( , I like that when you clean you got the green lighting going on! I like the ending but I would love to have the play again option. It would have been super cool, also it took me a good while to notice I could shake trees but I wasn't sure which ones lol

Absolutely loved the environmental message! The 100 chestnuts goal seemed a little too long as I played so maybe there could be a few milestone celebrations in between? It's already the most complete game I played so far though with all the intro and outro animations, multiple fully implemented game mechanics, and a coherent art style. Great game!

Nice job! i like the mechanics, like the trade of cans for chestnuts, maybe looks better with ohter camera view, it was fun!

Great! Thanks for playing and for your feedback! Can you explain what you mean by "other camera view"?

Submitted

of course, i mean the position of the camera, like third person or top-down  view

A very lovely concept, cleaning the forest with your squirrel friends! The game's presentation is very cute, with all the little animations and sound effects. I liked the simple progression system where you need to bribe squirrels with chestnuts in order to help you lift heavier things. It's simple, but effective for gameplay purposes. I do think that the game is very long (there's a LOT of litter), and because of that the main mechanic gets pretty repetitive. I think having the same concept in a way smaller package could work much better. What I loved is how satisfying it was when you finally cleaned up an area and a trash can EXPLODED into nature. That was a very nice touch! I also liked the cabbage easter-egg ;) Well done making a game guys! Thanks so much for participating in the jam!

I really enjoyed the art style personally, especially the style of the shadows and trees.

Very calming and fun.

Really fun and satisfying to play, love how open the world is and the art style/shadows. That secret cabbage really threw me off at first XD!

Loved this cutscene. The gameplay is great the only thing it's leaking is more variety in trash. Very good game!

I love the message this game sends the most! Super easy to play too. I'd love to make a game like this in the future.

Great pixel art, simple and pretty
About gameplay i think you should make progress more smooth. I was collecting cans as long as i was able to take fridge but i didn't notice i can carry garbage and i was collecting cans for half of game time

I found it super educational. I'm going to show it to my elementary school students. I loved the mix of 2D and 3D. The music also surprises me. I loved it.

This is really nice. Cleaning up the forest was so satisfying and the art and animations are gorgeous. Great job on this. I was a little confused about the goal; I thought I was trying to pick up all the trash but had a couple pieces left that had no garbage cans to throw them into. I eventually realized that I could still finish by collecting all the acorns though which was nice. Also on the right of the map I noticed some things I could interact with that would multiply, what were those out of curiosity?

Regardless, great job on this game folks. My game is linked below if you want to check it out.

It's a pleasure to read such a complex review. Yes, at the end we thought goal may be confused. Also I was forced to add some cans because sometimes you have no trash to fill those garbage cans. Great job to fill all of them! And you have found our Cabbage. It does nothing but exisiting as our signature as a GasC team :)
