- Welcome to the Festival Game Jam for the 1st semester of 24/25 CMGT School Year.
The theme is:
Use the theme in any creative way you can!
Be literal:
- Games about identifying characters
- Games in which you take a new identity
Be literally literal:
- Games using ID cards as the main resource
Be creative:
- You play as the Intellect Devour (ID) Entity (get it?!)
You can make anything creative:
- Digital games: Games using game engines, software, etc,
- Physical games: Tabletop games, card games, etc,
- Activity: Escape room, tag-like game, sport, etc,
- Piece of Art: Text, story, poem, drawing, short movie, animation, music, etc,
- Installation: Interactive art installation, hardware, etc,
You can use any tools and assets you want, but we ask you to:
- Consider using tools you are either familiar with or want to learn, especially if you have teammates who are willing to help you with them. Remember that other people are also doing their games, so they might not have time to help you.
- Consider using free and open-source tools and assets. There are plenty of good websites for it, such as FreeSound.org, Kenney.nl, and OpenGameArt.
- We ask you not to use generative AI tools. There are ethical implications in their use. If you decide to use them anyway, please add a disclaimer about how you used them in your game.
- Consider making web builds and other easily accessible forms to experience your submission. Web builds are the most friendly builds, as almost everyone can play them regardless of the operational system. Some web builds even run fine on mobile phones.
- You are free, of course, to also make your own assets! Consider this a moment also to improve your portfolio with nice new additions, but remember to keep your team's goal in mind.
You cannot:
- Make entries that intentionally offend others on the basis of religion, gender, sexual orientation, culture, etc.
- Make entries with +18 content, such as explicit sexual content, gore, etc.
- Make entries that promote self-harm, suicide, and other similar forms of self-harm and violence.
- Make entries that promote hate speech, intolerance, and other forms of violence.
In short, we should be respectful to everyone. We are in this together.
Our Deadline is Thursday, 12 PM (noon), and it is a hard deadline! No submissions are allowed after the end of it. If you are making digital games, consider building before the end of the submission.
Teams are allowed at any size, including working solo. You can work with students from different years and even alums. Contact the teachers if you need help finding a team. From our experience, teams with a maximum of 5 participants are more efficient, productive, creative, and happy than larger teams :D
We will have an informal quick voting at Saxion on Thursday and a formal voting via itch.io. Only participants who submitted something are allowed to vote. The voting will last for two weeks, and the final results will be available at noon on the 20th of September.
