Developer

Thank you for playing my game I’m glad you liked it. I’ll try to play your game once I’m home.

Thanks!!

Dude, the game is reaally hard, I couldn't figure out the jump and float timings, that got really frustrating after a while. But you did set up some mood in this one, the art is really interesting, great job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing! Sorry about the difficulty I am trying to scale with that since myself and my friends are all very good at platforming. If possible could you tell me what caused the difficulty? Was it the spacing of the jumps? The hazards? Or the speed? Again thank you for your comment.

Submitted

It was actually achieving a proper jump height to press space and start floating, sometimes the float would activate too low, the timing was really hard...

Submitted(+1)

Perhaps using a fixed jump height with space and just holding space to float would get a lot more friendly to use!

Developer(+1)

I will try that. That you so much for your feedback

Submitted(+1)

Thank you for considering my suggestion. I mean, it could be a crap and not work at all on your game, but it's very nice of you to be so receptive of feedback and willing to try it out! I hope you go far on your games!

Developer(+1)

Thank you. You too.

As game developers we need to be willing to listen to feedback and try out new ideas to learn or we’ll never make the best games we can. At least, that’s how I feel

The game has some cool graphics, with a little refinement it will look stunning.

I like the idea that the light actually hides the truth, otherwise it would have been very similar to a lot of the games that I've played until now, but that's not an issue.

The jump physic is a bit weird, it feels like you are thrown in the air intead of jumping, the floating one looks cool to me.

The platformer bits needs to be tuned a little, some jumps are extremely difficult if you don't get the jump 100% right.

I don't know if it was supposed to do that but my game suddendly ended  as I was reading the writing going down in the sanctuary.

The sound fx are ok but could have been more various, especially the sound the character makes when you die.

Nice game though, good luck for the jam.

If you want to check it this is our game

I will when I get the chance. Thank you so much for your feedback. And yes the game cutting out is on purpose it’s a reference to another game and some of the last bits of my initial idea. I’m going to continue to work on my movement for the character :) I’m so glad you enjoyed the game.

Visually nice! I like the lighting effects. The jumping I felt was a little odd (mainly how it sorta gains a boost halfway through), but I think I got used to it after a few minutes of playing. The floaty umbrella was fun to use. Like others said, the lack of music kinda makes it feel unpolished- ambience would totally get the job done better.  Near the beginning-ish with the second instance of the moving platforms, the foreground objects (those lines? not entirely too sure what they were) made the jumps a little harder than they should've since they blocked the blue obstacles a little, but that's minor. Storywise, obviously not much could be told since there's so little time to explain everything, and I feel like the game kinda suffers because it tries to be creepy while not exactly building up on really anything. You don't need to know everything about something to make it creepy, but i feel like there was too little going on to really get the effect you wanted- it feels more like the voice is just saying Some Stuff without any substance, if that makes any sense. Same goes with the game closing- it just didn't have the right setup, in my opinion.

Other than those little things, though, well done! It was a fun little game to play, and again, the visuals were pretty good.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for your honest feedback, I appreciate it. The foreground objects were supposed to the roots poking out of the walls. I wish I'd had more time for everything but for one week I'm happy with what I was able to accomplish and I'm glad it was fun. Thats the only thing I could ever ask for :)

Submitted(+1)

Hey, that's great! As long as you're enjoying yourself before and after making these :)

Developer

I really am. It makes me happy. And actually the jam took place the same week as my birthday (28th of August) so that was pretty awesome

(+1)

It's visually stunning but a bit buggy (closed umbrella floating). Good use of the light renderer.

Developer

Thank you for the feedback. And sorry for the bugs. I think I went a little ambitious considering I made the game myself.

(+1)

I know the feeling, mine's a solo project too and it has been really intensive last day :)

Developer

Absolutely and in the last couple hours everything started breaking. The umbrella glitch was one I never even found lol. Hope I find the solution before my next project

Submitted(+1)

I thrust you! it's a good game. Really enjoy playing it.

Developer

Thank you! I'm really hoping for some constructive feedback if you have the time.

Submitted(+1)

YEs I will do that this week end! with pleasure

Developer

You are awesome thanks!

Submitted(+1)

Very nice mechanic with the umbrella. Good job!

Developer

Thank you! It was fun to make

Submitted(+1)

The character was really cute! Thanks for making this game, you did a great job! :) There seem to be a few bugs, the hearts didn't seem to disappear?

Developer

Thank you so much for your feedback. The hearts replenish once they reach zero and they hit zero when you fall off a cliff. Is this what happened to you?

Submitted(+1)

I've read your comment about the omission of music and I think that some ambiental sounds as you said would help to bring it more alive.

The ending is after falling after the creepy af statue? The game closed suddenly and didn't know if it's due a crash or the end,

Besides that, the theme is well accomplished and liked it!

Developer

Congrats you reached the true ending! I was worried it would be too difficult (there are two endings hidden). Yes the game closing is intentional, its a reference to a game I played as a child which did something similar and the scene always stuck with me. I wanted a creepy vibe where things don't seem right. Originally there were going to be more fake glitches but I ran out of time.

Thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

I don't have much to say about this one. The graphics are good, controls are fairly tight, and the umbrella ability is fun to use. The lack of much audio makes it seems kind of creepy and unpolished, but other than that it's a really good submission

Developer

Thank you for playing. The omission of music was a decision I made in hopes of creating a dark atmosphere so I’m glad that read, but I’m sad it seemed unpolished. Do you think having ambient wind sounds would have read better?

Submitted

Yes definitely, ambiance is much better than silence. Also, no problem. Good luck!

Developer

Thanks. You too!

This game isn't a liar, it's a complete dickhead. xD

Developer(+1)

Hopefully in a fun way

(+1)

I approve. ;)

Developer

Glad to hear it

hmm, how to vote.

Developer

Positively I hope

Developer(+1)

The glitch that stops jumping has been fixed. As an aside remember, you can float. You don't necessarily jump on rocks or follow the path laid out. Maybe there is another path underneath?

Submitted(+1)

The idea is really interesting!
But unfortunately I got stuck at the point where game ordered me to die...
Couldn't jump or restart the game. Probably shouldn't have touched this red object :))

Anyway, great job on creating someting for this tough theme :D

Developer

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I found the source of the glitch (A tag got overwritten) Do you know if we''re allowed to fix bugs?

Submitted

Idk how it's regulated here, but during Ludum Dare you are allowed to make some little changes after submission, especially if it's like a crucial bug.

Developer

It is crucial.  That tag overwrite makes the game unwinnable an now everyone will hate my game :(

Developer(+1)

They were very kind and let me fix the bug. If you have time I'd love if you played the fixed version. As an aside so you know the rocks really are a red herring. Try floating elsewhere. Enough spoilers from me

Submitted

I surely will play it tommorow :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much

Submitted(+1)

Okay. I've finished it! :D However it was quite a challenge to jump on some rocks since they were quite slippery. But maybe I shouldn't have jumped on them at the first place :)

Developer(+1)

Smart person. Yes there are two paths you can take there. The rock path unlocks two endings and the hidden path unlocks one.

I hope you enjoyed it I had fun putting it together. I've actually been thinking of taking this game slice I made and making a full game out of it. Do you think that's a good idea?

Submitted(+1)

It's a good foundation, so I guess you'll find something interesting with some tinkering ;)

Developer(+1)

Thanks :) Hopefully I can make something fun
