I love the idea behind this, I love the artstyle too (this kind of black / white / red stuff gets me everytime) but the controls feel a bit weird, and the bullet dodging isn't really satisfying. Also the audio bugged out at some point I couldn't hear anything. But all the idea behind are really good, a little polish and this could turn out great!

I love the art style, though the perspective did throw me off.

Absolutely beautiful game. I love the isometric view, I would just ask for a way to have standard Vertical/Horizontal movement. My brain struggled real hard.

This game has great style and art assets.

The menu is beautiful and nicely animated.

I did run into a few issues. First the player character doesn't always face the right direction. The math for choosing which sprite to use seems a bit off.

Audio wise, I would prefer that the scream be used a bit more sparingly.

The tactical mode required me to read a lot of text to use and seems a bit awkwardly integrated into the rest of the game, which is otherwise intuitive if somewhat repetative.

A solid entry with an interesting graphics style that plays well.

PROS:

  • The art is very good and helps convey the emotion of the fight between the player and the enemy really well.
  • The tutorial does a good job of making you aware of controls and mechanics.
  • The presentation of the menus is sleek and adds nice polish.

CRITIQUE:

  • The isometric presentation definitely caused issues for me as a player.
    • Had confusion on exactly where the hit-box was for player/projectiles
    • The controls for WASD move me isometrically so I had to wrap my brain around that movement and definitely screwed it up at least a few times. Would be really nice if this was an option that defaulted to isometric movement, but also allowed players to opt for direct vertical and horizontal movement as well.
  • The tutorial ends up being a bit overbearing to the first-time player with a lot of text. It would be cool to see some imagery in the tutorial to help explain things and reduce the amount of text necessary, especially with the art looking as good as it does.
  • The in-game feedback around the "Tactical Mode" is a little confusing so I just tried a powered-up shot at his head and moved on since I didn't want to waste the 10-second window to act.
