I loved this! Everything was just great! Thank you for giving my eyeballs this pleasure! Even though the art was drawn simple it made me love it even more! Great great game!
Thanks a lot!
Nice style, very polished, thank you for including the boss rush right away for everyone to experience.
If there's anything to critique, the player sprite is a tad too big. Or I'd have moved the hitbox more up to his body, perhaps doing double duty as his superhero emblem.
Thanks, I'm glad you like the game.
You're right it's too big but the full story is that it's the only sprite I did not drew myself, teammate drew it very big and it looks great so that's as small as I could resolve myself to make it.
Distinctly presented, the hand-drawn artstyle made me think of some old Flash shmups in the same aesthetic, and the goofy enemy designs reminded me of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
It seems that the game was designed with Easy difficulty in mind - higher difficulties were very punishing, dying once meant losing a lot of power with little opportunity to get it back, and would quickly snowball into being unable to kill anything. At the same time - avoiding civilians required a degree of precision that is difficult to achieve with how large and relatively slow the player is, while killing everything in sight would snowball into being completely swarmed by army forces with little to no breathing room.
Among other things - random civilian spawns killing the player with collisions felt unfair, and strongly discouraged claiming space to the right. I would suggest removing collisions with humans at least (or make them die on contact instead of you) - they will still jump in front of your shots, but at least they won't prevent aggressive positioning.
In general, seeing the enemies together with civilians/cat/structures felt a little off - aliens are everywhere, civilians are everywhere, yet they do not interact with each other at all (as if they are allies). For example - wouldn't it make sense for the godzilla miniboss, instead of walking next to buildings gracefully, to walk among rubble of said buildings?
On a positive note, I think the presentation and the ton of variety with enemies/civilians works really well for the game's setting. Lets your imagination run wild - are you a hero? Are you a villain? Are you just passing by, or tripping balls, or are you just so badly misunderstood that everyone is trying to kill you..?
Solid amount of content with a healthy dose of imagination. Not regretting giving it as much time as I did. Congrats on finishing the jam!
I'm glad you enjoyed the game.
You're right about the difficulty, although at least I can beat my own game in normal this year, last year I barely tested and in fact couldn't.
Thanks for playing and all the pretty good suggestions!
Awesome style and game. Great submission for Bullet Hell. Great work with adding a tutorial, as well as power ups to get. Slightly challenging on the Godzilla like boss, with the buildings, almost needed a little more space to maneuver around. But overall great and fun game!
Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
The art style is awesome, I loved it and I loved how you should avoid shooting the civilians and the buildings
the music is relaxing and matches the hand drawings i loved it, I loved everything abqout it. keep going mate!
Thanks a lot!
Really like the art style. This was a bit challenging and i love it! I think you made great use of the potential contained in the theme of Jam.
The gameplay felt really nice for me and had a lot mixed possibilities when fighting with different patterns.
Good job!
Thank you, I'm glad you like it!
Extraordinary art style! Not boring at all, nice theme implementation. Enemies were sometimes really tough. Overall great job.
Thanks! The game sure is not easy.
I really love the "paper draw" art style! It is awesome! Also the animations are perfect with the art style (love the background animation as "pen colouring").
For a ten days dev there are a lot of variety!! The bosses are different, both in projectile patterns and artistically speaking (fat Godzilla and humanity tank are my favourites!)
The gameplay is very fun, I preferred boss rush but is my personal taste (like bosses rush in general).
The main mode is a bit chaotic but that's the beauty of it!
I liked the tutorial, although I thought it was sometimes difficult to read (maybe a white border to the font would be enough I think).
Overall is an awesome and fun game to play. I really liked it!
Thanks for create and sharing it!
P.s I love those stick figure men on the ground :D
And I hate all those people who start skydiving during an alien invasion! :P
Thanks a lot, I guess these people really like danger and adrenaline.
Interesting concept, i like that you have to watch where you shoot to avoid casualties among the insane level of alien chaos that’s happening, plus in a way it kinda adds a bit of humor to the game (seriously why are there so many people going sky diving in the middle of an alien invasion ? XD)
Other than that the gameplay is pretty solid, and i like that the hitbox is visually shown to help you navigate the patterns.
The hand drawn doodle - ey artstyle certainly has its charm as well.
Good job :)
Thanks, I'm glad you like the game and its silly tone.
No problem dude always up for some silly games :p
I liked the game, I think it lacked more game fuel or juice, because sometimes I shot at the enemies and it didn’t seem like they were taking damage, especially I loved the art, it’s funny and well done (I loved the big rabbit), in terms of bullethell it was also good, it fulfills the genre, there is variety, that said, the only thing I could play was the boss rush, because the normal gameplay mode was too complicated and confusing for me to understand what was happening in the gameplay, many objects without knowing if they were enemies or some support for the player, but the game was cool.
Thank you!
Awesome game - super well-integrated theme! I love the art, especially the way that it's animated. Markers are so nostalgic. The gameplay was very fun as well! I wasn't able to get through the main level (though I beat godzilla!), not even on easy, so I'm grateful that you included the boss rush which allowed me to fight all the bosses. There were some lines of enemies which frustrated me as it felt like once they start shooting, I can't break in, but I had tons of fun anyways!
Thanks ! You're right about the lines of enemies, I thought that was meh yet for some reason never thought of changing them.
