How does your game fit the theme?
Each time a player beats a level, they have to do it again, but in a different way.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, I have made everything from scratch.

Nice game, the graphics are really impressive for being made in ms paint. The jump and movement in general felt kind of weird, but overall, still a nice job!
I was intrigued by the different text for the levels and was hoping for more changes between them, I got to the 5th but couldn't find where to go. Nevertheless, great work on drawing the eye to the strange object in the level and making them puzzle out what to do. Keep it up!
Apparently I was never able to learn to walk. I like the music and the visuals. But the controls was not very good, and I have no idea where I was suppose to go to, or what I was suppose to do. Overall was this an okay little jam game.
The gameplay is quite, and the art while simple is also kinda cute and grow on me as i play the game. I got stucked on level 4though cant seem to find the exit for that level lol.
Some issue i have with the game is the control is abit weird. I would prefer to have the jump button only activated when i first press it, currently it will always jump as long as my character touch the ground when i hold the jump button. The movement is a bit too fast to my liking too but i guess this could justbe my personal preference
Hey, firstly, on the positive side, the music is pretty great, the background image is cool and i like the graphics style BUT you must make some animations for your player (aka great little elephant).
The main menu also looks great !
On the negative side, you should make the movement a bit sharper using GetAxisRaw instead of GetAxis, so it doesn't smooth the input. You should also make the level 1 a bit easier so the player doesn't want to quit in the first 5 minutes. And as i said earlier, the elephant is a bit small, maybe you should make it a bit bigger.
So, to resume, there are some great things and some bad things, but overall it's an okay game !
Finally, could you rate my game ? Thank you in advance !
I really liked how you had to something different to complete each level.
Movement could do with a bit of work, but you've got a complete game congrats! A bit more player control in their jumps and coyote time will have it feeling a lot better. Then all it needs is some polish, animations etc.
Nice touch on having to input the Konami code
I also came from your challenge thread. I want to say something different than the rest of other comments here. I will be brutally honest here. The game doesn't appeal me that much to play longer than the second stage. In my opinion it doesn't provide much value other than being the players should be very precise with your control of movement and move to the next stage. The reason I said it doesn't appeal is because the control is buggy and the movement is weird (Those are your selling point to this kind of game but it's not good.) Game design needs a lot of work. This is very subjective area and it takes a lot of iteration to get used to it. Games should be emotional, mechanics are there to deliver those emotion.
I think most of the people here already point out the obvious stuffs that need improvement. One thing i would like to advice is you may want your first level to be the easiest so that players could learn and get used to the controls. Smaller level and less spikes. Once the player progresses you can slowly expand and add more obstacles.
Another thing u may want to consider adding is some sort of a second chance mechanics in the game where if a player touches a spike, give him a 0.5s window to press jump again to save himself. It would make the game more fun and less punishing.
Good attempt here and keep improving! All the best :D
Came from your challenge thread, so I'll leave a longer more detailed review than normal~
You could fix your volume sliders to use the entirety of the slider bar by accounting for the logarithmic nature of the actual volume value (do a conversion: Mathf.Log10(sliderValue)).
Controls are very slippery, especially on the uneven terrain, and the jump height rather inconsistant. It took a little while to get used to.
The art style is unique, and gives the whole thing a hand-made feel - but I recommend looking into other art workflows for a more generally appealing visual style - next time, try hand painting and shading everything in Krita, using tricks like attempting to duplicate color and lighting effects from chosen reference material, and lots of smoothing and blending!
I could not figure out what to do for level 4. level 3 was also very unclear until I eventually missed a jump and fell, "completing" it. Overall, instructions are pretty unclear - which I guess is fine if your goal was a puzzle game.
Thanks for your opinion! Well, my game isn't the best (I think is mid) but I made it before the deadline and that's a success!
I didn't know about how volume works. I will surely look into it in my free time and try to learn something new!
About the art style (and the physics): I did not have much time so I wanted to make something easy to implement and to make. That's when paint style came to me. My idea was crude artstyle and physics which allow to abuse everything. I was inspired by (of course) speedruns and by amazing Pizza Tower game and decided ti combine them - physics and abuse of speedruns and artstyle of Pizza Tower.
And lastly, names of the levels are hints. Well, some are better and some are worse but when I talked about them with others we couldn't come up with something better. So, here are the solutions:
Next time I hope I will have more time so I will make a better game! Nevertheless, thanks for your help!
I came from your challenge post and I’m not sure what should I say about this. The idea might be good (for the theme?) but your level definitely needs more careful design. If it is going to be used 5 times differently, you want the level to be fun.
One thing I have noticed is the jump height of the elephant is not consistent (without a mushroom), which will break your level (e.g., in the 1st run, I simply jumped to the door without getting the mushroom). I am not sure if it is intended or not.
Also, do players required to enter some kind of code in the menu to beat the game? I couldn’t figure it out …
Overall nice try but maybe it needs more design. I like the MSPaint graphics! o/
Thanks for your feedback! About levels, I wanted to make more levels but I saw that if I made more designs I wouldn't have time to make other, more important things I wanted to try. The jump height is a bug but when I was testing it looked funny and can save a lot of time simply by one jump and I decided to leave it be. And the "legendary code" is Konami Code, I thought it would be obvious.
It's hard to say what this game is. I would say bizarre but I feel like that's an understatement. I like the cool animation of the elephant at the start and the UI is... yeah... I like the crude poorly done art style. it's very unique, my only problem with the game is there's no direction. you don't know where to go. in the first level, I thought that the blue orb was my goal but it was the rock at the top, out of view. it's just poorly done. As I said I can hardly explain this game. but I hope this helps.
I will remeber that and next time make a some kind of a tutorial. I just haven't got the time
Interesting interpretation of the theme. The game itself is fine, could use more variation between levels. Like each level is more corrupt/wierd or something like that. It desperately need coyote time, as all platformers do.
Its overall good entry, but it lacks polish.
Quit strange platformer. I liked graphics, despite that fact that it is created in Paint (but why is this elephant nazi, wtf???). Controlls are just unbareble. Elephant has big speed and high jump, but still has inertia, therefore player feels like an Sonic in soap. Look on YouTube "How to improve platforming controlls". In this videos are mentioned how to improve jumps. Level design is strange - how am I supposed to know that rock above the level is my goal? This rotating thing at the right of looks like my goal. I recommend in the future or give to your level goal bright design, or mention it directly to the player. Some of ideas I liked - for example idea with a code, its quit unique idea. Also I liked that collider of platforms is exactly like on texture - it feels cool and smooth.
Thanks for your feedback!
I will look into the sources you gave and next time I will try to do better! And I will create tutorial, I just didn't have time.
My elephant is not a nazi. I know that his scars look like a SS symbol but it isn't. It just looked empty so I wanted to draw something on his belly but I didn't know what. And then Hogwart Legacy came and I remembered the Harry Potter's scar
elephat is yest, why terrain wavy
I really enjoyed watching the entertaining goofy elephant at the start, and I appreciated how the platform's colliders accurately matched the terrain instead of being flat. However, there are a few concerns I have regarding the gameplay. The elephant seems to jitter, and I'm not sure if that's intentional given the game's style. Additionally, the art style looks are not very visually appealing in its current form. On the other hand, the death audio isn't annoyingly loud, which is a nice touch, and the movement controller is relatively smooth despite the jittering and floatiness.
Too simple a game, wants more game mechanics
Neat game! Nice potential for more levels, would have been great to see more! Im not sure how the game fits the theme though :P
The theme was an end is a new beginning right? So my idea was to make the same and but each time it leads to a completely new beginning.
The best thing about this is this ridiculous looking elephant XD
I don't want to praise but I made him in like 5 minutes but I think he couldn't be more perfect!
nice game
Elephant :] (Also nice game)
