This was a really cool game and I love the concept. Unfortunately, I ran into some issues with the web version where I wasn't able to add anyone except the knight to fights. Still, amazing job!

OMGosh - Thank you for your very useful feedback. This meant alot to us. I can't believed you manage to figure out those Scout and Watch Tower hidden mechanics. They provide Moral boost to soldier which boost their defense. I think you are the first person to discover it. Actually I want to show what those characters are capable to the players but unfortunately we run out of time. Once again I appreciate you taking your time. Your feedback will definitely be consider if we try to expand our game.

Very interesting game! Did you make the music yourself too? It's really nice. I like the whole idea of choosing the right people to hire. If you want suggestions, I think it would be better to be able to see the people you've hired and be able to manually lay them off. Also when I didn't have enough money I didn't know which people I've lost. Your game is definitely a lot of work for a week, so good job :)

Thank you. Yes, all music are made by LeoW150. Your feedback is great and will help us when we expand the game further.

Developer

Thank you for liking my music : )

Pretty cool game! :)

Took me several tries to get to the final boss, but it was really nice once I finally got there and won!

I'd definitely play a longer, deeper version of this! Nicely done!

Developer

Thank you My Lord for saving our town :)

Interesting idea and really a lot of story writing for one week! I really like the bell mechanic a lot but would consider to dump the necessity to click on the report afterwards - just go straight to the introduction of the next applicant instead. In terms of game design I would emphasize the impact of my decisions more clearly - right now it remains a bit unclear if the decision I've made were good or bad. Nevertheless a very enjoyable entry in my opinion - congratulations!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback. Yes I agree with you in terms of game design. Reading most of the comments, I realize that emphasizing on the player decision then build a mechanics for each decision with a good execution is what we are planning to do if we are going to expand the game.

nice game, funny idea

Thanks for submitting the game to be played for the stream :)

Really well made game. I love the art of everything and the sounds fit really well. Theres some things I went into a bit in the stream where you can watch my full arguments there but the main things are that its difficult to see how many people you are able to reject in a day as you can only really see the next two people in line, and the battle seemed to end a bit too quickly without you really being able to get into it (at least the battles I did on stream, the ones after are fine). I played through the game again after my stream to check the game out in more detail. It seems like taking certain characters has a very large amount of effect on your run where it feels like less of a choice and more forced at points. I managed to get up to the dragon and had a great time playing overall

If you wanted to check the vod to watch my reaction here it is: (games are separated into categories and yours is the 13th

I enjoy these kinds of management games, and this one was pretty cool. I wish I got a little more of context for each class or more room for trial and error at the beginning, but the experience was quite enjoyable. It's very creative as well. Good job!

very fun game, i never got any units to send on day 3/4 which felt unfair. but very nice looking game and mechanics which i could definitely see fleshed out into a more polished game in the future.

Management game is a very unique idea but it can be very easily unbalanced.

The idea of many professions coming to the player and choosing who to hire and who to fire is well made but I would change few things. Firstly, since day 3/4 I would make the queue random with some fixed characters. Secondly, the merchant tab should me moved to the summary screen at the end of the day. I found it after I failed like 3 times.

Developer

Thank you. I appreciate your feedbacks.

Really great idea for a game.

Unfortunately, the game crashed at some point and I could no longer continue playing =C

Developer

That is unfortunate to hear.  This is my first time hearing it after the latest build. Thank you for playing it though. Can you tell me which platform you playing at? Is it in browser, windows, or mac?

The idea is cool and unique as a mini management game, where you just need to focus the HR part of the town management. I'm a little confused about how things work as how to fire someone, who are actually doing what , eg who created what each turn. And I hope to get more information about each character to help me decide if I want to keep hiring him or fire him later.

Any way I think this concept is very potential! Would love to see a more complete game of this!

BTW really like the bell haha.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback. Yes I would also like to show more information but sadly, because of time constraint, I couldn't implement it. I appreciate you taking your time to comment.

Wow, what a jam entry!

There's a lot to like.  Controls are intuitive - "what's this bell for?"  Well, it's the only thing in front of you and you can't move, so... it doesn't take long to figure out that you should try it!  Things like the sell mechanic being added by just plopping a new item onto your table was very fluid.

I really enjoyed interviewing people.  There was more depth than usual to the consequences of my decisions vs. most game jam entries. E.g. you can just *not hire tutorial guy* and completely remove the advice mechanic from the rest of your playthrough.  Very ambitious design!

I found a few softlock states (if you don't hire anyone Day 1, you can't progress but don't lose) and a couple of "your best effort's not good enough" situations (if you roll a bad Knight you can lose the Day 2 battle despite hiring everyone beneficial to your performance in that fight).  I think these sorts of things are to be expected.

Overall the only place I slammed this entry is on theme; technically the writing fits (the king is dead, long live the king) but you don't engage with it in any way during the gameplay.

Thanks for the game!

Developer

Thank you so much for taking your time to write this well detailed feedback. I really appreciate it. I really been stuck with idea of hiring mechanics and it just so happen that game jam is a really good place to validate that concept.  What you just said really means a lot to us, especially me so thank you once again :)

Was a bit much to wrap my head around at first, but once I got the hang of it was a really good time! Adding a tutorial of sorts could be useful by having a couple key characters show up that you have to buy, and then gradually give the player more freedom to hire and fire who they choose as it goes on. Really great work though!

Developer

The tutorial is always a big challenge for me. I'm glad you had a good time playing it. Thank you

I got a consistent bug where I couldn't interact with the second NPC (and thus couldn't progress) in the webgl build. I do really like the concept of this game. The music fit very well, but I found a lot of the text hard to read. Having the medieval text for just headings instead of the entire resume would help a lot. I also tried the mac build but couldn't get it to open, even with the terminal trick. If you end up updating the game, I'd love to give it another try :)

Developer

Hello sorry to hear your bad experience. Have you tried clicking the bell? I add a details that they will only come to you and interact when you call them by clicking the bell. As for the mac, it is really a hard issue to fix because of apple security for unknown developer. In order for me to fix this, I need a developer license for apple. However, we could do an alternate : could you perhaps can try to follow this

The desk is completely bare for me. No bell or anything!

In terms of the tutorial, when I tried downloading the game it wouldn't even open that far. I got no popup and I couldn't find it in my privacy settings. Not sure what happened there, since I've never seen that before. I have downloaded things from unidentified devs in the past and have dealt with it the way the video showed. That was not the issue I was experiencing.

Really like it. It could be a nice addition to have a detailed finance report.

Developer

Thank you. Noted. Yes, I actually plan to have a detailed finance report but I just don't have time for it to implement hehe.

That was a cool idea having the player decide who to hire based on resumes and such. The randomizing of stats was a bit of a troll thing sometimes (first and third playthrough the first knight was a beast, but the second he was made of wet tissue paper, and my third playthrough I fought a poison bomb with like 50 atk that wiped me in no time flat). But balance consistency aside, this was fun enough for me to keep trying, and I really liked the model for the dragon. Feel free to check out my game too!

Developer(+1)

Thank you. I'm really glad you have fun playing it. I finished the development early but was stuck in polishing and balancing. I just realized that a little bit of change from economics could lead to unbalance moreover I have to balance the battle stats too.
