The gameplay loop of having to turn around to shoot makes for some really cool challenges as you have to decide, am i running away AND shooting OR am i running towards it AND not shooting. The game feels really polished for a game jam game and a really funny interpretation of the theme. Good Work!

Thank you! :)

I love these games that are simple to play, yet are so interesting and fun. Feels very well made and polished. The graphics and sfx are fire. Unique  gameplay mechanics and the concept is a fun wordplay (or should I say "letterplay")!

"letterplay"XD
Thank you so much for playing!

Easily the quirkiest game I've played so far -- and I'm a fan of quirk. Mind you, not just quirk for quirk's sake -- but stuff like this that's executed well enough. I'll detail:

The music, it bops; I always appreciate it when a game jam game has the time/talent to execute music that helps bolster the efforts of all. It's addicting and of quality. Great job!

The style is impactful and eye-catching; the choices made here are on point.

Graphics accommodate both the aforementioned style and music in a way that meshes more than well; I could probably play this more (and will) when this jam concludes!

The best is probably the theme and concept, which is just a nice cherry on top of the quality within this game; I love the overall quirkiness of "U" needing to escape "E"s and of the like. It's perfect! lol

Overall, great job! I look forward to future efforts!

Fun game! I really enjoyed the graphics and the effects animations. And all the ui bouncing to the beat gave the game a great energy.

Thank you for the feedback! :)

Interesting combination of mechanics.

Great game, I could play for ages! Lots of juice, further expanding on the idea, I think more letters would be great. Maybe a B for Bomb, T for Turret or L for Laser.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your comment! B is already a bullet, but a T turret would be neat! I will add it if I update the game after the voting period.

Very cool effects and gameplay

The style is simple yet so damn cool, the way the text bops to the music, I was confused at first but quickly understood how it all worked, upgrading through the shop (always leave it open, pro tip) pumping that fire rate up is the way to go, I highly recommend this entry, amazing work.

Developer

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your comment! :D

Wow really cool and simple game. The sounds and music are nice. The beat effect makes a cool effect. It's a bit difficult when there's a lot of enemy bullets everywhere. I would have made that my bullet can destroy others if they collide. Also, if the cursor is in the middle, it's a big mess. But overall, a really great game that you can be proud!

Developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I found it kinda funny what happens when you move the cursor to the middle, so I kept it in the game. :D
It is a bullet-hell game, sooo, yeah. A. Lot. Of. Bullets. :)

Guess I can! 😎 Keep shop open all the time gang and S saw is a trap!

First few tries I though the SOS was unbeatable but didn't I didn't falter. Holy heck those things are bullet sponges.

Nice to see a jam entry with a real focus on polish and juice. Love it. All around very polished and cohesive look and feel. Of course the super limited color palette brings a downside of not that easily spotting enemies and so on. Bringing an extra accent color for friendlies for example would of course alleviate that.

The sound scape was awesome too. Some of the sound effects felt a bit thin lacking that punching oomph to keep up with the pumping music. Not bad by any means but lacked that extra fist in your face treatment that you had in the particle effects and so on.

The control scheme felt very weird at first but I got used to it. And the dual nature of having shooting and moving be the same really worked. Especially so when the SOS appeared and wen't all danmaku on your ass. You really had to prioritize dodging but not forget to align yourself so that you were still damaging the boss.

The pacing felt a bit off. There was a huge delay on the start and usually between enemies too. Was this to accommodate for shopping? I just kept the shop window open at all times since it was so awkward to open and close it (hotkey would have been sweet). You could also slow down time when shopping to get rid of those extra delays. Those really felt bad when you had nothing to shop and just had to wait. It's never fun.

The shop limits felt a bit arbitrary too. Why not allow more saws for example? Would cool to be able to go full on balls to the wall bonkers. The fire rate especially caps way too fun. There isn't really much to shop for as around ten speed is probably more than enough and the saw for example just knocks coins around and never seems to do any meaningful damage. That on top of making it look more confusing and getting sniped by its baby brother enemy variants.

Good job!

Developer

Thank you so much for the time you put in on making this comment! I really appreciate it! The delays at the beggining are longer, because on every game I make for a game jam, I keep getting the feedback how the game is too hard. I tried to make it a bit easier this time, and also some shopping time between the enemies. The delays were probably too long since you are very good at this game (according to the highscore). And you managed to beat my highscore! Well done!

PS: Did the game inspire you, in some way? lol

Developer

Finally. I can now rest in peace.

Wow, really cool game! The music, the art, the gameplay, everything is really good! One thing I dont like is that I cant see my health. But other than that this is really good!! :)

Developer

Thank you! You can see your health tho. The circle around you indicates how much health you have. :)

Submitted(+1)

Oh, that is the health! Could be a bit more visible tho

I love the look and feel of this game! It's really cool that you made all the assets and created a game that feels complete. At times it can be a little difficult to differentiate the elements on the screen because everything is similarly colored (e.g. ur own bullets and the enemy bullets), but overall it's fun and challenging!

Developer

Thank you so much for the comment! I wanted to stick to the same color palette, but I see that sometimes you can't tell what hurts you and what doesn't. Did you get inspired by playing this? XD
