The movement speed was a bit slow but other than that, wow! The graphic were amazing too!

Do check out my game too :)

Super impressive game, the cross-thatched style looks really cool in 3-D and watching the story slowly unravel was interesting!  Definitely one of my stand-outs/one to keep an eye on for this jam!

The only real complaints I'd have is that the movement speed felt a biit too slow and I wish that when speeding through dialogue it would reveal the entire line instead of skipping it.  There were times I wanted to read the dialogue but not necessarily watch the text slowly crawl.

Fantastic game, really loved the art design!  I did think the movement speed was a bit slow, but other than that, great game!

Really beautiful art and vibe! The scribbly lines and shadows really captured a unique atmosphere. The movement was a bit slow to me, but other than that it was a very solid game. I loved the multiple rooms and spaces, and all the interactivity was really well executed.

I love the art! Really good job with this game. I think one of the best on this jam.

The art is crazy good in this game. Such a shame that it's practically unplayable in the browser (I never download game jam entries, so only review in-browser games).

Developer

Yeah unfortunately a couple of our builds (including WebGL) didn't work, and we can't upload fixes so if you do want to play the game, you're gonna have to download it, thanks for the comments though!

This game is 👌lit! I've never genuinely felt bad for my actions in a game, and with such a strong art style, I won't be surprised to see this game be number one in the graphics category.

The controls were actually buggy for me  tho so I had difficulty moving around(I had to face the opposite direction of where I wanted to go and just go backwards).

But overall it was a nice experience. Making the furniture scattered and those voices increase in pitch just sold the feeling of being a monster. Great Job to everyone who worked on this game!

This game was just really solid!Loved the whole vibe, the assets, and game loop.

I was just not a fan of the slow movement and wished I had a way to speed up although I understand that it would break the feel and flow of the game somewhat.

What would be cool, is that when a neighbour is dead, change what it says on the post box. 'This belongs to John' -> 'This belonged to John'. It's not much but I really like details like those.

Skipping dialogue so it shows the end would be cool.

  • WebGL version doesn't work and movement is janky.
  • Windows version works A ok.

Stunning art, really. I played download as the web version crashed on me.

I really liked the idea, and the subtle whispers you hear. It got somewhat repetitive, but that's mostly because the walking speed while on the neighborhood felt excruciatingly slow to me. Maybe if I could walk faster or if after delivering to the last neighbor it already put you home, I would felt more compelled by the story.

One minor thing would be being able to finish a dialogue without skipping it. I thought the letters appeared way too slow, and when I tried to press F so they could load faster it already skip the dialogue or went to the next window. I wanted to read some of the dialogues with the neighbors that I ended skipping.

Regarding audio I got no remarks. The soundtrack showing "ordinary" day to day is nice.

I really liked the art, it's enthralling! It really gives this vibe or eerily ordinary. An amazing atmosphere overall. Good job!

In my playthrough, the game lagged horribly and the controls don't always move me to where I actually wanted it to be.

And when I was at the front door, it just crashed.

Developer

I'm sorry to hear that. Is this the WebGL version? We've been having problems with builds that aren't Windows or Linux.

Loved the style of the game, 8.5/10!

Do I have to be the nth person to tell you that the art is amazing? YES! Seriously gorgeous game, I had never seen hand drawn graphics on a 3D environment like this, it's awesome!

The sounds are very nice too, it really makes the world live! The knocking sound on the doors is so good I almost thought someone was knocking on mine xD

Also seriously dark and eery, very very well done!

I think I'm not the only one here thinking this will rank VERY high, it's deserved!

Really beautiful game !! Might make the gameplay a little more fast, but it was still great. Good job !!

Really well polished art. I understand that due to time limitation some rooms aren't accesible, but would haver really loved to see a full house in this style.

I really liked this, the art is incredible and I really wasn't expecting it to be a 3D one. My game did eventually crash in webGL but thats my fault for not wanting to download.

If i could suggest somethin, a skip dialogue button. I dont want to ignore it, but I dont want to wait for it to finish typing either lol :)

Can eat people. 10/10. I've never seen shadows being textured, what an amazing game. All 5 stars. Well done!

You could pretty much develop the game more, add more features and game mechanics, put it on steam and you are golden!

Wow, this is such an amazing game and I absolutely love the art style it has (Pen sketching style is my favourite so I'm gonna be a bit bias :P)!  How did you make the shadow to render the sketch marks?

The only criticism I have is the build-up to the possession can be improved and hinted at better at the earlier stages of the game, like one or two dialogues from the demon.

Otherwise, I am completely speechless, definitely one of the best jam games I have played.  Well done!!!

Developer

Pretty much, I use the shadow maps as a mask. So I tweak the shadows by using two gradients, one which will be used as the mask for the sketch lines and another for the lighting falloff. Sketchlines is blended using a color burn blend operation each (Directional and additional lines are kept separate), then added together. Shadow brightness is tweaked using a remap hooked up to an exposed float that can be tweaked globally using a shadow zone script MemeMan made.

The sketchline texture itself is applied to objects using triplanar mapping. Gives consistent results regardless of object size and UVs.

I use Amplify Shader Editor for my shaders, but this should be doable in Shader Graph as well.

Damn, that sounds very complicated, definitely worth it for the results though!
