Really good game and excellent mechanics!
First, I must say, that this is the first gamejam game that I was able to play through to the end. The mechanics were well balanced. Second, I really love all the programming that went into it; enemy spawner, pathfinding, the machine system, the cutscenes, and transitions. Because they feel very polished. Finally the story and concept is really cute, I especially love the scene transitions.

However like all gems it still has its flaws. Firstly, the mechanics were polished but I believe a bit more could have be done to go the extra mile. Such as; player feedback when killing the enemy, locking the camera to borders so you can't see outside the map, UI feedback on the abilities you can and can't use... Secondly, the art needs some improving. Now, I can understand your a programmer and not an artist, so you still did a good job attempting the art XD. Personally I'm not an artist either, but all my friends are artists so I usually invite my whole friend group to help out. I have been getting better though, and when I make the art my self I copy "reference" from online, it helps a lot. For future jams I would recommend; using lots of references online to improve and getting some friends to  help you out with the art.

Other than that excellent work! And don't let the art make you discouraged. It's a skill just like programming so you will get there.

This game has my stamp of approval✅

Thanks so much for the kind and helpful feedback! I really appreciate it :).

Yes, I'm not an Artist, and i also try to use references, maybe you noticed that the wave and tornado look alot different from the rest of the sprites, that's because I used a reference there. Thanks for the tip.

Also, I'm really trying to improve in art, this doesn't look good, but some of my past games look like...well, let's not talk about that XD.

And thanks again for taking so much time to write this review!

Good luck with your future games! :)

I actually really like the style, and a nice idea about using the ground you're walking on determine what type of attack you can use. Very charming game!

Developer

Thank you!

Interesting game concept. I wasn't able to get to a point that was very chaotic. I think having the player have more than one life would be beneficial, rather than getting hit once and starting over.  New enemy types would be awesome to see!

Thanks for your feedback!

Fun game! Though it did became a bit repetitive near the end. Different enemy types would be really cool to add! Maybe some flying enemies that ignores earthquakes, or some aquatic enemies that becomes faster on water than on land? There's definitely potential here. Anyways, other than that, still a very fun and surprisingly pretty strategic game! Also love the fact that you even made a free roaming level select! Nice work!

Developer

Thanks a lot for your feedback! These are all very good ideas!

Good job creating all the code and assets from scratch.  I thought the game was fun to play and well explained so it was clear what to do.  I like the transition effect when the levels load.  Main feedback would be to improve the enemy AI.  I liked the music but for me it got a bit repetitive after a few levels, maybe having a longer track with some more variation would be good.

Developer

Thanks a lot for the helpful feedback! All of these are good points and i will definetly try to improve these things in fututre games. :)

I love the hand-drawn art! The walking animation is really funny.

What could be improved in my opinion is to decrease the time the player has to wait before spawning enemies. Especially on level 2 I had to wait a really long time for enemies to come.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad most people perceive the walking animation as funny rather than me being bad at animation XD

I think it adds to the feel of the game:) Not everything has to be professionally perfect to be fun

Really nice entry, truth is that the theme might not be clear at first sight, but with later levels it can get bit chaotic. I really like how you used the mechanics of different "weapons" and also loved the music! Very solid entry

Developer(+2)

Thanks a lot, I'm glad you enjoyed it! Actually, i didn't take the theme literally, i thought that natural disasters generally lead to a lot of chaos. :)

Submitted(+1)

that' s fair and that' s what I thought as the disasters you use, are considered as chaos in general ;)

Good game art need some help

Developer

Thanks! Yes, I'm pretty bad at art but i try to get better.

I like that you incorporated different types of terrain for different powers. Also I enjoyed the little narrative framing.

Developer

Thanks!

I loved the assets, they looked really cute. The introduction part was also on point, short and easy to understand. I also enjoyed the world map, it remined me to the days I used to play classic mario. The music was nice and relaxing.

As you mention on the game description the AI pathfinding need to improved, it only follows the player around and will get stuck with any wall it stumbles across. I believe there were too many levels for a game jam.

Overall, it has a lot of potential! I loved the idea of using natural powers to destroy the enemies!

Developer

Thanks a lot for taking the time to play the game and write this feedback! I will try to learn about pathfinding soon. :)

super nice concept! I agree, with just a little bit more polish this would be an awesome game, but overall it is a neat game! I love the map level selection!

Developer

Thank you!

Overall it's pretty good, some more polish would be nice (camera shake, sfx for enemy death). It's also kinda repetitive but it's nice!

Developer

Thanks!

Interesting game, I like the gameplay but it got kind of repetitive at the end since the same strategy worked each time. Maybe some different types of enemies coming later would have been nice to mix things up.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

this is an enjoyable game! however, like someone else mentioned, i did not like having to wait around a minute before enemies started spawning. Also, it is unclear when i can and can't place disasters. is it one of each at a time? 4/5 overall, great game!

ps. thanks for the review on mine lol

Developer

Thanks a lot for the feedback! Yes, you can only place one of each disaster at a time. Maybe i should have that as well as the fact that you need to place something for the enemies to spawn more clear. :)

Submitted(+1)

First of all, I want to thank you for this awesome game. I did enjoy playing it.

I just notice that the duration at the beginning before enemies spawn are a bit long.

I hope my feedback helped you.

Keep up the good work

Developer

Thanks a lot for your kind feedback! I really appreciate it. You're right about the spawn thing. :)

Submitted(+1)

Hey, I really like your interpretation of the theme and the little into-story cutscene is a nice addition. Maybe you could shorten the duration at the beginning before enemies spawn (where the player is supposed to read the description of a new power).

Otherwise, well done!

Developer

Thanks a lot! You are definetly right,  maybe i should have made it so that the enemies immediately spawn when you place something.

Submitted(+1)

The game is interesting. The walking animation of the player can be improved. Also you can try to add some animations to enemies too. Overall the game is great.

Developer

Thanks! I'm not an artist and i didn't have the time to make good animations, but improving my animating skills is what i'm working on right now.
