Ranked from 21 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

In what way does your game fit the theme?
Capturing and maintaining hold on the captured squares as more an more appear can get overwhelming and chaotic very quickly. Randomization, bounce, and high velocity adds to the chaos.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes. All assets, code, sfx, and background music are made from scratch

Congrats on top 100 theme!

Developer(+1)

yay thank you! Overall I'm super happy with all the ratings and results. Theme, fun, and game design were the ones I really pride myself on, and I'll pass on the great ratings to the sound people. Only place that feel flat was art which makes sense because I'm not an artist 😂

Nice game, i await more updates after the jam

are there going to be updates?

Developer

I am likely going to change up the visuals to be less chaotic/glitchy and then work on building it out as a mobile game. Follow my itch page if you are interested in the updates, i'd love to have play testers!

Or you're welcome to join our discord too

Definitely one of the more out there entries to the jam with a very clear chaotic element, specifically with you attempting to remove it it seems.  There's definitely some "hidden" mechanics when it comes to controls but overall it had a nice simple control scheme that lets you try and take care of the increasingly manic little cubes while they all attempt to avoid getting caught.

It's definitely an interesting idea for a game though, I'd be up for seeing what else could be added, ex. other shapes and their interactions possibly?  No idea.  But it'd be cool to see what there could be.

Awesome game! At first I wasn't sure what to do, but got the hang of it pretty quick. It was definitely chaotic, liked the audio and glitchy aesthetic. Only issue was that I wasn't sure how to "get better" so to say - regardless none of the levels took too long that I felt I was missing something. Great work

Developer

Yeah, the objectives were ambiguous for sure. I didn't want to add instructions and was hoping people could just figure it out intuitively. The scoring tho, I didn't do anything intuitive for that. So... makes sense lol.

Thanks again for playing!

In no way your fault but omg the bars on the side kept walling my clicks lol.

I think the concept of the game is simple, but super fun! The little flashes and various speeds and collisions do a lot to add to the chaos of the game. Definitely though my favourite part of this game was the audio design. God damn the noises from clicking those things and completing levels was satisfying.

Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed the game. I'm disappointed, personally, my game design skills could not eclipse the awesome audio design hahaha but I'll pass along the compliments to them! They did awesome work.

The visuals, audio, game design, everything was chaotic. Fun to play :).

Fun game! I think this type of reaction game has good potential as a mobile title. I'm not sure if the capture rank does anything as I always get "great". The time rank seems to be working properly. Overall, fun game!

Developer

Yeah there is a perfect rank and it does work as far as i'm aware but its hard and ambiguous so i get why you'd think that. Funny enough if I continue to develop this game it is 100% mobile focused. Even plays better on mobile right now but obviously I can't get people to download and play a mobile game for the jam haha. Thanks again for playing

This game is the definition of chaos. At first I was confused on why there wasn't an introduction, but I realized it added so much depth more meaning to the theme. The art, the sound, gameplay, and everything gives of chaotic energy. From trying to keep track of which ball is in the zone constantly, to frantically hoping a ball would go in the zone before the others expire. It perfectly fits chaos' definition:
"behavior so unpredictable as to appear random, owing to great sensitivity to small changes in conditions."

I actually have no bad reviews to say about it . The game is a bit hard so I couldn't see it through to the end but I thoroughly enjoyed the 5 minutes I did spend playing.

WalfosDev,

Thank you so much for the comment. It means so much to me that you took the time to play the game and then additionally took the time to consider why I designed it the way I did. I literally google'd the definition of Chaos and wanted the objective to be restoring order amongst the Chaos. I'm so happy to hear that you experienced it the way I intended.

Per usual the difficulty balance is hard to achieve when you don't have time to do play testing and balancing. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Looks  sounds and feels really good

With no way to control whether things will actually overlap the targeting area it felt like a bit of an RNG waiting game sometimes, especially since they don't stay captured very long

I ended up cheesing some levels just by clicking the capture areas without really paying attention to the squares because of that.

Very polished though!

Developer

Agreed. I was trying to come up with a way of influencing the direction a bit more but didn't settle on anything I liked.

Thanks again for playing!

nice game, it becomes easy to play when clicking the blocks already collected but it is fun and challenging
