Tiny Kingdom is a cute tower defense game of currently 3 levels. It was created within 1 week for the Brackeys Jam 2020.2. It offers a rewind button to send back the enemy hordes for some seconds, in time, then they move forward again to reach the exit gate. In the beginning we thought, come on, how hard can it be to build a tower defense game... uhm 1 week later... we thank whoever brought us to this final version in time. It was insane... but fun.
What is special compared with other tower defense games? You can rewind time to send back enemies for some seconds in time, the isometric tiny room style is unique, you can grab a tower from the playfield and place it somewhere else and we included evil rainbow unicorns!! Take that...
So what is this game all about... Definition of a tower defense game, taken from Wikipedia
Tower defense or TD is a subgenre of strategy video games where the goal is to defend a player's territories or possessions by obstructing the enemy attackers, usually achieved by placing defensive structures on or along their path of attack. This typically means building a variety of different structures that serve to automatically block, impede, attack or destroy enemies. Tower defense is seen as a subgenre of real-time strategy video games, due to its real-time origins, though many modern tower defense games include aspects of turn-based strategy. Strategic choice and positioning of defensive elements is an essential strategy of the genre.
Thank you Wikipedia.
So, how to play this game... the only tool you need is your mouse and some strategy. When inside a level you will get some coins for free to build your first defense system or tower, you can choose from the cheap archers tower, or the canon tower who shoots mines on the playfield, which of course are detonating with enemies near by, to the magicians or ice tower who can slow down enemies. Find out which tower is most effective against the enemies.
With your left mouse button you grab a tower from the right sidebar, in case you have got enough coins available, you get more coins by removing enemies from the playfield, no they are not killed, they are now in a safe place... for sure. Move your mouse cursor over the playfield and release the tower by releasing your left mouse button, if you found the right spot, the tower will snap into an available spot. To place this tower somewhere else, just click and grab it again and move it somewhere else. If you like to remove the tower from the playfield, click, grab and move it over the trashcan in the lower left corner of the screen, by the way, you get some coins back, how great it that...
To call in the next wave, in the right lower corner click on the play button, when one wave entered the playfield you can call in the next wave. But we sure and prepared that your defense system is build up perfectly.
If you built up a good defense system, you can fast forward a wave by clicking on the fast forward button. Wait, what for is the rewind button over there... as the topic of the Brackeys Jam 2020.2 is REVERSE, send back the enemies where they came from, but you only can do that three times per level.
The game is over when you lost your life, how sad is that by the way... do not let that happen! Enjoy the game and look out for more soon. Good luck!
Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, all code is written by our team, also all graphical content and music was also composed by us.

Cool game. You are right, you guys' scope was definitely too high like Last Sun Haiku. I see in the other comments that most of my issues are already taken care of, so I won't repeat them.
Overall really solid job and once you get your update out it's gonna be really good!
Hey thanks for playing my game ClassicGamer76, here's my feedback to your game:
COOL STUFFS:
IMPROVEMENTS:
doing, just asking if can you give a tutorial that is built upon the game.
Nice work to the team also.
Hi, thank you for checking out Tiny Kingdom, yes the cursors shadow is already gone in the new version, as we will use a new 2D UI, that means, the UI will generally be different, also a grid is shown where you can place your towers as well as a kind of shadow shows you where you can build a tower when you move him over the playfield with your mouse, you can rewind the hordes 3 times per level, you did not broke the button haha and a tutorial is mandatory / standard in the next version, all that and much more already improved (general shader style, many sound effects, a lot of environmental animations...) and working on more, but to upload a new version we must wait for the voting end. I hope you can check out the next version too, as I love to hear your feedback... thanks :-)
Really a great game in such a short time! I loved the music and I wonder how you made it. Did you use any special program? Overall, controls and visuals are great as well. One thing I missed is audio when turrets are shooting and when enemies die (or maybe I didn't hear it?). Excellent job!
Hi, thank you for checking out Tiny Kingdom, no you are absolutely right, we had no time to include the 60 well prepared SFX in time, but in the next version, they will be there :-) I can suggest FL Studio to you for music and SFX things. For the graphics you can use MagicaVoxel very well, but it lacks on the animation side, for that we ported the objects to blender, cleaned them up and sent them to Unity for animation. That's it.
Nice art, very Minecrafty, I do wish I could zoom in too though, felt very static and far away with the fixed overview camera.
Music and sounds are okay, and the tower defense is nice but sort of feels the hits lack a sense of impact. Being able to reposition the towers at any time also sort of makes the game too easy, but nice work overall.
Hi, thank you for your feedback, we are far away from the final version, 7 days to build a tower defense game is insane, so that is what we could get done for the jam version, as we currently are working on the improved version with way more atmosphere, choises and enemies, which takes a lot of time to create and include, I'am sure we can make you happy with the next update. Please check back soon. And yes, a zoom will be included :-)
