I really like the concept of this game, and the art is really nice. I wish there was a way to speed up time since I found myself waiting to age quite a lot. I really enjoyed the mechanic of things changing as you aged (like the tree), and I just wish the levels had contained more of this idea, rather than man punch ghost, baby go under spikes, old man win level. Overall though, I thought this was a really good entry, and encourage you to keep working on this. (Also the setting is really sweet, and as someone whose relatives have had dementia, really resonated with me)
Thank you so much for the feedback! Definitely agree the fast forward button is a good idea, and we are also looking forward to implementing new mechanics to the different ages. For a week-long jam, we didn't have that much time, but it is something I agree about and that we'll implement after the jam. Also glad you liked the storyline and found it somewhat touching, thank you!
Loved the name Manolo! This game made me feel a little bit emotional. Really stands out among the other games. Wish see more of your work!
Thank you so much! It means a lot :)
I thought the take on the theme to be really creative and really liked how each stage of life of Manolo had a special purpose. Also, great art!
Thank you so much! Will make sure I check your game :)
I really liked how you had to constantly use the clocks to stay alive, it's a unique mechanic I haven't seen in this jam yet! And it was obvious when you had to switch into different ages which was good too. There was this one jump that I couldn't get past. In the level where it's a race against the clock for each age, at the bottom there's two spike pits. I can't get past the first one. Do I need a special power, or am I just timing my jumps wrong?
Great game, thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much, we really appreciate the review!!! Yes, that level is quite challenging, it can be achieved by jumping with either the adult or the old man but getting very, very close to the edge of the pit :)
I went back and it took me a few tries but I made it past the jump! Nice job :)
Great!!!
I love the concept and it was all taught well. I also love the music and backgrounds, and I didn't mind waiting for aging, growing up is a slow process after all.
Thank u so much! Really appreciate the comment!!!
Nice work! I really liked the concept and details of the background changing. I think others have noted this but the only thing that bothered me was having to wait to age up sometimes. Well done overall!
Yes we will fix that in the next version! Thx!!!
Nice concept, it took me a time to understand how I had to play but I think that was my fault :) Overall it was a cool game
Thank you!!
Great game. I like how you tied the characters and the abilities. Some of the objects changing form when rewinding was a good touch that gave it a little more personality. One small problem that I had is that some of the background sometimes don't make it clear what is floor or wall (that dark wood color), but overall good job
Thank you so much! Yes, the background may be a little messy. We will have it in mind when making improvements :)
That was a great game! The mechanics of background changing with age is an awesome idea. Like others have mentioned I only wish you could speed up the ageing process, maybe by pressing down for X amount with a slider showing when it will go to prevent accidental presses. I really liked the game!
Thank you so much! Will be something that we'll add for sure :)
This game fit the theme really well and the art style is really good. I enjoyed the puzzles and how each age had its own strengths and weaknesses. Well done!
Thank you so much! It means a lot :)
Really nice game, fun game design and nice art! Good Job!
Thanks!
Good idea with the game and the background changing really helps.
Thank u!!!
Awesome and wholesome idea, gameplay is interesting and fresh. All in all well done!
Thank you so much!
Really nice! Love the pixel art, - and the background changing is a nice touch. Maybe being able to have another key to also fast-forward to the next phase of life would be nice? Not sure, maybe not.. but very good entry! Cheers
Yeah that's definitely something we'll add to the game after the jam, thanks for the comment!
Nice concept and well made!
Thanks!!
I want this ability in real life😂😂, very fun to play, 5/5 from me 😁😁
Thank you so much! Wish I had it too hahaha
Great game! Maybe you should add a button to acclerate time because sometimes you need to be older to get by an obstacle and you have to wait for a long time.
Definitely something we'll add when the jam is over. Thanks!
Really loved the idea of you game ! It was fun playing it !
Good job.. Rating done !!
Thank you so much!! Will make sure I check out your game :)
Thanks😊
I love the way you wound the theme into your narrative, it made me a little nostalgic for To The Moon funnily enough.
Your game mechanic was also really cool, the one thing I wish it had was the ability to fast forward your age since sometimes you'll be a baby, staring into the void for a bit.
Thanks! Yes that's a mechanic that would have been nice to have in the game, thanks for the advice! We'll implement it once the jam is over.
