In what way does your game fit the theme?
The game is a mini Metroidvania made for the Brackeys 2020.2 Game Jam. The game has you start from the boss fight in the beginning and then sends you to the beginning of the game upon death. This fits into the game as it forces you to relive and rewind what the character had to do to get to the boss (Yeah it's a bit of a stretch on the connection).

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
All art, music, and scripts were made within the time span of the game jam

I like the art for the main character and environment. I agree with the previous comments that better player feedback would be helpful. Especially for when enemies are hit, because as it is now I do not know whether I am hitting an enemy or not until they disappear. It would also be helpful to have an animation for the melee attack.

Also I must be missing something as I have gotten stuck pretty early in the game as there does not seem to be a place where I can physically jump to.  I don't know there is some kind of ability that I already have or something I need to unlock and just figured out how, but I couldn't get past that point.  I may have been a little more patient with it also if there had been checkpoints somewhere. Either way a more in-depth tutorial would be helpful.

Still a Metroidvania  is an ambitious feat for a game jam and I commend you for attempting it.

I like the concept you guys went for with the theme! That being said, I think this game could use some more feedback for player actions. When collecting chests, it'd be nice to tell the players exactly what ability they unlocked as I had to guess what I unlocked. I think the game could also use more auditory feedback (eg. shooting, hitting an enemy, etc.). That being said, if you guys expanded upon this concept I feel like this would be a great game! Keep up the good work.
