In what way does your game fit the theme?
A Hacker's History is a journey back in time - reminiscing Hank's good old days as a Hacker. The entire foundation of the game is based on rewinding back in time. Additionally, a very vital mechanic to the game is the REWIND clock which logs multiple rewinds that are different each level. These rewinds increase the difficulty of the game and make it "fun" to play.

Did you write most of the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes. I wrote all of the code myself and created all assets from scratch. I did not use any internet assets; I created everything - Ludum Dare format.

I missed controls information in game. And was confused where the goal is. Color palet was kind of wierd. Tip for next game:   find some color schemes online. Overall its good game for begginer! Hope you had fun creating! Keep up making games :)

Elegant UI and fun game. Nice job!

Nice simple game, it would be nice if the camera was more zoomed out as it's quite hard to see the next enemies or parts of the map.

Cool game, it is funny. Just one little thing was missing: "Instructions" but after that all good

< ?  > in the top right of the main menu. I know that it is small. Thank you for your feedback!

pretty fun! the graphics could use some work, but nice interpretation of the theme!

Developer

totally agree with the graphics - they definitely need a ton of work

Cool game, though dash could be changed, to be in direction of your movement, not mouse

Great game, especially if you only built it in 2 days! I do agree with everyone else's recommendations though - some tutorial or controls visualization would help for sure :)

Maybe it was just my carelessness, but I didn't know which button to press to retrieve. I ended up pressing multiple keys and eventually found out. I like how you incorporated the idea of rewinding in the stages. It does make it more fun and challenging. Good job! Rated!

In the top-right corner of the main menu, there is a little < ? > help icon that has instructions. I probably should've made this more obvious. Nevertheless, thank you so much for the feedback!

Developer

I agree with the tutorial. Thank you for your feedback!

I like the concept.  Perhaps it's just me but the Rewind level could use some tweaking on the difficulty.  However I loved the idea of it.  2 recommendations:

1) Clarify that you need to return to the yellow bubbly bits in the beginning

2) Quit option on the title screen

Otherwise, I like where you are taking this.  Keep at it!

Thank you for your feedback! - Completely agree that there needs to be more balancing and playtesting.

I was going to make a ant-man like character, but just ran out of time. That would've been cool though (you can see the resemblance). Thanks again everyone for all your feedback.

the game has a lot of problems, but it's fun! good job!

advices:

-i love the dash effect, but i need to understand when i can dash and when i can't. put a little adviser or notifier, something

-i have to start the game and understand how to play, i don't have to read something before. and if i have to (but i advice explaining things during the game as you do later), put it automatically. no one will click on that <?> before playing

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the advice. I was planning to add in-game descriptions for the first level, and I completely understand the dash indicator.  The constructive criticism is much appreciated; it pushes me to be better. Thanks again.

Developer

Thank you. Same to you!

This game has a great sense of speed with the dash mechanic, really made me want to blast through each level as quickly as possible! Would of liked if the camera was zoomed out a little to make the environment easier to see. Cool use of the rewind as an obstacle rather than a mechanic!

Developer

Thanks. That means a lot. I was thinking about that when creating the levels, but at the end I just didn't have time :).
