How does rating work?

I was wondering if the final rating of a game depends on  the amount of ratings. Because if not, would a game with only one rating, but everything five stars, always win the game jam?

"A game needs at least 20 ratings to be considered for winning" - the rating section on the overview tab on this page

I don't know. I m also worried if thats the case most of the games might go unnoticed.. That's why I started sharing my to others.

Rate others games also..

you need 20 rating to be considered.

I think... rating other people games gives you karma and as far as I know this factor is being taken into account in overall winner calculations.

I think... having to many ratings can lower your chances of winning.
Anyway - thinking about winning is not a right attitude here... its all about fun. For me, best part of game jams is just exploring the other people ideas.

It's not about winning, I was just wondering about how it worked. Thanks for your reply!
