How does the game fit the theme?
The arena is the 'strange place'. The floor shifts colors each wave and geometric shapes drift in the background at various speeds. I't my first jam and first game ever created, so that's the absolute max of my current abilities! Awesome experience overall.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I downloaded some free sounds from freesound.org.
Other than that, the whole game is shapes, so no complex assets needed to be created.

The game is really done well in terms of mechanics. I would really love to see it with an even better art style after the jam gets over. Great work, had fun playing it
Great work for your first jam. Very smooth controls VFX. Well done
A great game that I liked. It just needs a few improvements to the graphics and menus. The sounds are great, I liked them. Overall, it's good, well done.
Very solid game you got here! Very impresive it is your first game.
The shapes graphics feel like they lack something but all about the effects, the particles when the enemies die, how sooth the controls are... It all feel very cool!
I got tobeat it second try ;p
Great job on your first game! This is very good! The shooting felt nice and the difficulty wasn't too much. Also, the SFX for shooting and the circles dying sounded very nice. Good job!
Very good game and impressive if you have no prior game dev experience!
- There is no sense of progression in the game. At the start the enemies feel quite un-killable and you have no shoot cooldown. I don't feel the game getting harder either when the wave number increases. What I would recommend is you have the enemies start out weak, slow, and low in numbers, and you increase the numbers as the rounds progress.
- Also I kind of found it disappointing when the game suddenly ended after 5 rounds. I would find it more fitting to have it continue endlessly, becoming harder and harder until you fail. If the intention was to make just 5 rounds, then the score should probably not be displayed because it's irrelevant in that case.
- I don't know if it was a bug or by design but the enemies de-spawned after some time.
Other than that the game is fun (and strange :D ).
I love the shooting mechanic, feels really nice! The only thing i would say is that the enemies do tend to appear faster than you can kill them and combo you to death, but cool game other than that. A great submission, especially for a solo jam. Good Job :)
Good job with the game! For being a first game it's perfectly fine. The gameplay is simple but without flaws and i particularly liked the death sound effect of the circles. As a post note...i am not quite sure how anyone could not understand the mechanics, i feel like it was pretty clear so don't get hung up on that. Keep it up!
This is most confusing game I have played in this jam oh my goodness 😭😭 I had no idea what I was supposed to do and what even is going on, at least the movement was decent and we stan the copy pasted shapes dawg, you shouldn't have done this alone dawg, you should've gotten some teammates to help you on this. Actually, I just figured out how to shoot but still the enemies gang up on you like...
Other then all those flaws, I feel in time that you could get better at this and the next time you do a game jam, you should join a team! At least tho the controls were good, I hope you enjoy the jam :)
I do like feedback, I prefer it to be a tad more organized, but i appreciate it all the same my g!
- Confusing? I'll take that as a strange place compliment!
- Copy paste shapes: Yep! My motto was Keep It Simple Stupid (K.I.S.S)
- Teammates: I liked the solo dev challenge! I can only go up from here!
- Just figured out how to shoot: Left click. The title menu also tells you that ;)
- Good Controls: Glad you liked it!
I'm enjoying this jam a lot! I hope you got to see my feedback for your game too! Everyone really submitted awesome projects. Enjoy the jam!
I love the visuals! Great choice of colours!!!!! Main feedback I would say is when playing the death animation maybe you could disable the collision and hide the sprite to make it feel more responsive.
Very good start for a first solo project.
Adding wave rewards, roguelite-style progression, and more enemy variety could make it even more replayable.
Keep it up!
Feel free to check out our game too.
For a first game ever, this is a good start. It's simple visually, but the game feel really goes a long way. The particles when enemies pop, that extra kick on the first shot, and the big boom on deaths all make it feel satisfying. The shooting has a nice zing to it too. It was clean, responsive, and I beat the 5th wave..so I'll call that a win lol.
Nice game! Could definitely add more stuff! Congrats on your first jam!
Congrats on your first game jam! The game was simple, but easy to understand and get into the flow of.
Good job!
