Ranked from 91 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does the game fit the theme?
The theme is about exaggerating a scenario so ridiculous that it’s almost guaranteed to go wrong. Building a bomb is already a risky proposition—building it in the middle of a city, under attack, while it’s slowly melting down? What can go wrong?

The twist: There are multiple endings, each based on how "wrong" you played and the decisions you made. To win, you must juggle these escalating crises with perfect execution. Only then do you unlock the best ending where truly "nothing went wrong".

Plus, every in-game dialogue choice tempts you with an attractive “Nothing can go wrong” option, constantly reminding you that perfection is the only way to survive this absurd, high-stakes situation.

(Yes, I wanted to achieve some irony and meme-ify the theme with the dialog choices. :P)

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I focused on gameplay code and creating a highly polished experience. To save time, I used pre-existing boilerplate systems like the Settings and Inventory systems, but I wrote all gameplay-related code myself.

For visuals, I didn’t create most of the models, though I did make some, such as the bomb's construction phases unique to Last Fuse. My main focus was on lighting, post-processing, and cinematics to achieve the look and feel I envisioned.

Additionally, I worked extensively on game juice and visual feedback (things I wanted to improve in this jam). While I didn’t draw the explosion sprites, I did my best combining effects (like slow-mo), VFX, and timing to maximize impact, visual appeal, and the overall "cool factor" into a polished experience.

I did not create most audio, except for modifying some audio—such as reversing a sound to create a power-down effect.

How many people worked on the game?

Game did not feel like a jam game, incredible work. Pretty challenging. Killed all humans (womp womp)

Developer

I see someone has read the main menu blabberings I wrote! :D
Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

This is really polished for a one week jam game. Great work.

Developer

Thank you for playing it Sysl! :)

Submitted(+2)

Really impressive work, love how everything fits together with the top down mechanics. Reminds me of the gold old days of command and conquer. The UI is very elegant as well, great work

Developer

Heya aquanact! (Just woke up after a really long sleep so am replying to everyone and trying everyones' games) - glad to hear the UI worked for you, I appreciate the kind words!

And thanks for trying Last Fuse! :)

Submitted(+1)

Wow, no words, this is a master piece.

Developer(+1)

Haha you made me chuckle! Thank you for playing my game, and for such kind words! :)

Submitted(+1)

I have no idea how you did this in a week, this must have taken A LOT of work! I almost couldnt believe i was playing in the browser with how good the graphics are. Great job!

Developer

Haha I definitely risked it when I was making the browser build - it worked well on my browser but I wasn't sure how it would play on others! It was indeed a lot of work, I've just woken up after sleeping for 12 hours XD

Thank you so much for the kind words and will check out your game shortly after I settle down!

Submitted(+1)

Awesome game! Gameplay felt very nice.

Developer

Thanks Gamedave, glad you liked the gameplay!

Nuke explosion was a little underwhelming honestly. But besidess that, holy you have locked in for these last few days. There's just so much content!!

Also the web build was too big for my screen-

Developer

Heya, sorry about the web build - you can zoom out your webpage on itch.io to make the game window fit your screen - on Windows this is done with Ctrl + Minus or Ctrl + Mouse Wheel Down.

I'll look into improving the nuke explosion after the jam period! I wanted to make the bomb break and fragment into different shards, and set all your houses on fire HAHA (crazy ambitious), but given the limited time I had to do my best to balance visuals and gameplay - if you have ideas on how to make the nuke explosion more awesome, please let me know as I will be working on this game post-jam and I'd love to add those in!

Thanks for the feedback! :)

Submitted(+1)

Man, I can tell you poured your heart out while making this game.  I'm not too familiar tower defense style games, but was able to pick this one up pretty fast.  Awesome job!

Developer

Heya Elagon, yes I really did HAHA. (Just woke up so am checking out everyones' games and comments) Somehow got super passionate and ended up with one too many ideas and my brain just wanted to add as many of them as I could!

Thank you for the kind compliments, and glad to hear you managed to pick it up despite not being familiar with the genre (that's very cool as Last Fuse may be somewhat more complicated than standard TDs). Will check out your game shortly! :)

Submitted(+1)

It was worth it.

You made so many different scenarios! I loved frostpunk so playing this was a really good time!

Developer(+1)

HEYYYY, a fellow Frostpunk player!! *high-fives* I am glad you noticed the different scenarios! Just woke up after a 12 hour sleep where I KO-ed almost immediately the submission, so am only just replying to everyone now and trying to check out everyone else's games too!

Thanks for playing my game and happy to hear you had a good time! :)

Submitted(+1)

I feel that 12 hour sleep, hopefully you have the well rested buff back now! It seems insane how much you did for such a short gamejam! Impressive stuff!

Submitted(+1)

I WANT MORE! PLEASE MAKE MORE GAMES!

Developer

HAHA I LOVE THE EXCITEMENT IN YOUR SENTENCE! Just woke up after sleeping for 12 hours so I'm only now replying to everyone and slowly checking out all the games!

I am currently taking notes and ideas for improvements that I will make to Last Fuse once the jam period ends, and intend to work on the game and introduce new content to it afterward! Feel free to share ideas or suggestions if you have any!

Meanwhile, thank you for trying my game!

Submitted(+1)

This is super impressive, I gasped when I saw the amount of bomb options and multiple endings.
It contains so much content and really creative and in depth mechanics.

The game looks and feels really good, I had to turn off some of the settings for it to run properly and the models still looked wonderful.

Definitely a game I see people spending a lot of time getting into.
Amazing work.

Developer

Hey there puly, I didn't realise I had not replied to this! I think I was having my 12-hour sleep HAHA!

Glad that you managed to see the endings. Also nice GIFs on your game!

super polished game with elements of Frostpunk and tower defense, super impressive for a weeks work :) GG YYZ

Developer

Hey there cackfog! I didn't realise I hadn't replied to this! Thanks for the kind words and always love to see a fellow player familiar with Frostpunk / Tower defense!

Also I believe I've already rated and played your game, nice job there and it seems lotsa people like it! :D

Thanks man, i was watching a video from last years Jam and saw your game Storm Bridge did really well, looking at your page you've been at this for a while, am i right in thinking you've even published a game on Steam?

Developer(+1)

Hey there! Yep I have two games on Steam currently:

One of which, Havendock, has already been released for awhile and is geared to release out of Early Access to 1.0 in 2 months.

The other, Stormbridge, started from a game jam idea but has somehow evolved into a Steam game with a demo there now, expecting a full release later this year!

I actually did not intend to participate in these two Brackeys game jams (I wrote a little bit about that in the intro of my devlog). Before the last game jam, my previous participation was in 2021 - reason being I'm already the sole developer of a commercial game on Steam which is a heavy commitment.

But I think I occasionally enjoy just being creative, so even though I already have games on Steam, I think it's nice to come here once in awhile, come up with a fresh idea and just jam, y'know? Make something cool, maybe even make new friends, stuff like that. And obviously have fun - which is the most important thing and these 7 days definitely had been for me!

Submitted

I think i'm a long way from actually doing this full time, but hey, maybe one day. This was my first jam, i only picked up unity a month ago!

Developer

Only one month ago and already doing a jam! GOOD JOB MAN! That's the awesome attitude and courage I think not many people have! Keep at it and hopefully that "maybe one day" will become a reality.

Submitted

Thanks man! to be fair i was lucky i just happened to have last week of work :) figured i would give it a shot

It's absolutely amazing to see what you made in just 1 week. Well polished and fun to play. There's only one minor bug i encountered which is when i selected the nuclear bomb and a delete icon appears. Pressed that and it deleted the first building i made instead. Not sure if it's intended. But overall this is a great game with multiple fun endings hahaha

Developer

Ahh! I had an oversight with the delete function. You can't delete the bomb so instead it deletes other buildings. I've already fixed it for post jam build! Thank you for playing! The multiple endings were super fun to make!

Also left a super long feedback on your game - it was very fun, good job!

Absolutely insane game! Visuals were absolutely top-notch, though obviously that did cause some performance issues in the browser. But overall insanely polished and great game!

Developer

Ahhh, oops I forgot to reply - I must've missed this out when I awoke from my 12 hours slumber.

Thanks for trying out my game! I'll make sure to take note of browser performance in my future playtests! I already have optimizations fixed that I can't wait to push out after the jam period. Thank you for playing and also I must say your game looks reallly cool! Looks like a game about programming, which I imagine fits the theme perfectly because duh....what could go wrong with programming :DD

Submitted(+1)

5 Stars all round. This has amazing visuals, great art, amazing sound and the game loop is great. I would love to see this as a full release. Well done and I hope this gets the high position it deserves.

Developer(+1)

Heya mentalmonkey! Sorry for late reply - had stayed up 30 hours so I KO-ed after the jam. Have only just woke up after a 12 hour sleep and am trying to play everyone's games!

Thanks for such kind words and for playing my game! I am glad to hear you like the game! I intend to add more content and implement ideas from players after the jam period and am considering to push this further into a full game release!

Once again thank you and will check out your game shortly! :)

love this game so much!!!!! it is so completed to play, I spent lot of time on this one,I can see the good future of this game, wish for more content !!!

Developer

Heya BananaDog! Thanks for the encouragement! I was super passionate about this idea somehow and I'm glad that it seems to show! I'm definitely going to add more content once the jam period is over!

Submitted

A very polished game! I love the extra work put into it - camera, vfx, shader work, etc.
Minor suggestions from me, a skippable intro might be a nice addition, and I could be wrong, but I noticed the BGM doesn’t loop smoothly.
All in all, fantastic job on this!

I also checked out your other games, and their quality is also top-notch!

Developer

Hey mimpi! Thanks for playing my game and even noticing all the camera and vfx work! :D

The intro is skippable with the ESC key, and currently a toggle to skip it appears in the main menu after you win/lose for the first time.

Still, I will add a text that says it in v0.6! :)

And thank you for the very awesome, kind words! <3

Submitted

You can definitely see you put a lot of work in this game. Good job! The 5 endings must have been time consuming but were a great addition.

Developer(+1)

Heya nuuunu, thank you! Haha I absolutely love making cinematics, but indeed I only initially had 3 endings and the last two are designed to be easily scoped out if out of time. Glad I managed to get them all in ultimately because I really wanted them all. GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL!

Submitted

Damn! Very polished and nice voice acting for going solo! Well done, I wish I will learn a thing or two.

On the game play, it was fun, though I felt like there was too much going on at the very beginning and I wish I was slowly introduced to various resources and structures instead of having a panel showing me at the beginning what does what.

Besides that: well done!

Developer

Heya Lorenzo, thanks for playing my game!

I'll be uploading v0.5 which hopefully improves a little bit of onboarding. Perhaps in the long-term, the energy tab will be locked, then followed by defense. I have difficulty slowly introducing the things since factories make steel, which need energy, which produce heat, which requires the bomb. So it's all interconnected- WELP!

Submitted

Damn. This is a very polished game. Tough but beautifully executed. To pull this off solo is impressive. Kudos.

Developer(+1)

Hey mentalmonk, thanks so much for playing my game! Super appreciate it! :D
It was very tough indeed so to hear that you think it's well executed is very very kind encouragement!
