Nice! The character felt a little clunky, but otherwise the characters were cool and the idea/game were fun
Nice game! I just wish it felt nicer to control the character. I think maybe if the character slid to a stop instead of instantly stopping and if the character’s movement started gradually, that’d make a big difference. Overall, great job!
Congrats on your submission! The visuals are very nice, I really like that style, it kind of reminds me of Starbound? Gameplay wise, I had difficulty understanding where to go like how to reach the higher platforms? Overall it looks good, feels good, it's probably just missing some touches here. Do you plan on continuing it?
Nice game and approach to the theme! I like the character designs with the pixel art. Some jumps were a lot harder than others!
Nice game. I love pixel art platformers and this was fun to play.
Good game design and ambience, I felt too many times in those holes and hard to restart completely... but it was fun ^^ Good job on the game jam 🎉!
It was a little challenging for me but pretty fun good job! ☺
Solid idea! I enjoyed the bar setting and the cast of characters. The platforming was a little unforgiving and I couldn't be sure if there was more I could do to try and reach certain areas. Good work overall. Congrats and good luck!
The bar portion with the dialogue was excellent. Venturing outside to collect nails for the storm was also fun and worked really well. The increasing number of nails and difficulty over time really added to the gameplay and it was a lot of fun, nice job on this!
Hee-ho. Very hard game (I have always died from lighting). Nice game
Thank you for the game! Really enjoyed the platforming, dialogues and premise of the game!
Like this hub-like bar with many characters.
Some feedback from me:
- platforming can be done more enjoyable by making different things, like improving base speed of player, allowing double jump, adding "coyote time" or making level layout not require so much jump precision.
- it's not so obvious what to do. With this can help more UI elements helping with navigation. Hightlight when current goal is completed and how elements looks like in the UI can improve that.
- At first I thought what you can collect nails in several rounds. Why allowing player to return without nails if it'll lead him to game over?
- Art inconsistency is visible. Like, different pixel art style and pixel size.
- Using presets from plugins (like dialogic) can help with speed but it's look similar with many other who use presets, so with time it started to look cheap
- The lightning appears so random and unpredictable so it feel unfair to lose progress because of it. It might be charged before appear or something like that to allow player to "get ready" and do something and dodge the attack.
That was pleasant experience! I feel what scope is a little bit big for a jam. Non-linear level layout, dialogues, abilities, stats increment. It might be done smaller and more polished. But I enjoyed it! Will be glad to see you on next jams!
Thank you for your extensive feedback!
I would be interested in what art pieces felt like inconsistent art. Reason is most assets we have done ourselves but I suspect you can tell the difference because 3 people have made the assets.
We will keep improving and enjoying ourselves, and are looking for your future games.
I'm not a professional artist but can try to articulate what might be the reason:
- Art uses different color pallete for different elements
- Different art style and detalization. Characters have dithering and shading. Background and foreground buildings have plain color with little detail.
- Parallax background looks weird, it might be because off wrong speed applying
- Clouds in a foreground looking not good, very static
Don't worry about the artist thing, anything helps. Thank you very much! 👍
This is a cool entry! The bar setting is great, and I really like the art and overall feel. Nice job!
You did a great job. I had trouble trying to progress. I think I only had the cola so I was able to see the because between soda and cola. I do think that the tutorials or how to play the game should be listed somewhere in the game aside from the itch page.
I think the game has lot of potential, but I can't double jump or use any of the habilities shown in the controlls. Also after the quest of the nails I don't know exactly what to do next. Good job anyway :)
Hi Algilrod, little advice, you need the items to use the abilties ^^
And unfortunatley we have build in a to high cool down for the double jump :D
Really cool setting! I would have loved to be able to rebind some of these key's, or a bit of closer mapping since it's a little clunky hitting keys like alt. maybe having it binded to Q or something may have felt a bit more comfortable. However, all that a side, the platforming was fun and the Bar section was very cozy. I think you did very well with the theme!
I like chilling out in the bar with the calm music and my homies. I returned the gus nails and he was happy, but couldn't get the prompt for what was next? I'm a scrub, sorry,, I wandered around but couldn't find where to go next. Let me know what's next and I'll play again hahah
Hi, thanks for playing! Sadly we didn't have more prompts that would tell the player the goal of the game. :( The initial idea is to survive as many levels as possible, which means everytime your player heads out, he is supposed to find more nails to help barricade the bar for the coming storm.
