I think it's kinda cool to have an rpg where you just go straight through quasi-turn based combat. Good design on the characters, sfx coverage is good. It takes a bit to get me into turn based combat and I think some character animations would make this feel a bit more lively when sparring. Gj!
Thanks, I did the art and I went with big bold sprites for this one instead of the small animated sprites I usually do for jams . It took all my time and I wasn't able to get to any animatation, but I'd love to in the future.
They are really strong designs, I know the tradeoffs between detail and time to animate was something our artist struggled with as well.
Excellent game with great details on sound design. The disclaimer you put on the itch game page on shields was a life saver and greatly appreciated. Further, the idea of changing up your build mid-run is phenomenal and provided a great gaming experience. Finally, thank you for such a wonderful tutorial to help walk through the game mechanics. Aside from the bit on shields that I'd mentioned already, it was very well paced and comprehensive.
Thanks, yes the shield is a bit tricky and I wanted to make sure people could get past that section, as some got stuck.
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for playing!
Astonishing art and music. Very interactive gameplay. My only suggestion would be to have something that prevents the player from spamming the qwer buttons. Otherwise, I am stunned by how well polished this entry is
Thanks for the feedback, it is something we want to look into for after the jam
The concept of constantly changing your "build" mid-battle is really really sick, I like this a lot
Thanks! This was the mechanic we were going for, a changing battle you need to adapt your skill tree to, glad you enjoyed it!
A great RPG game, played a long time. The most efficient way seems to be pressing QWE quickly. Tech needs some strategy to think about. Great job.
Thanks for playing, means a lot! Were you able to get the end to defeat the snake? It was quite tricky trying to balance everything, its the first time I've had to do much balancing in an RPG setting but it was a lot of fun
I would love to but I wasn't able to make that far i think. I got ~200 acorns. Can't defeat the one with a great shield. I think I skipped and missed some instructions. It will be helpful if I can check the instructions back.
Really fun turn-based strategy game! One thing I wish was that the combat didn't start immediately so I have time to prepare.
Yeah, we'll probably add a timer before battles start if we expand on this game idea after the jam, thanks for playing!
was expecting it to be just a turn based rpg but when i found out that i have to press some keys every time in order to damage it actually became more fun!
the concept of this game was interesting and i havent seen anyone else use it in this jam before.
the art style and music were nice as well, loved it!
it would also be a great help if any of you guys took a look at my game and rated it and gave me your opinions!

Thanks for enjoying the game!
The game has an amazing mechanics, an I had so much fun, keep it up!!
Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it!
This game gives me Pokémon vibes mixed with rogue-like elements. I definitely enjoyed it!
Thanks, I did the art and was evoking a bit of pokemon inspiration for sure haha
When I fount the beetle king a tutorial came up telling me to enchant my sword with the counter element. I did and the popup stayed. Was quite good until then, though!
Hey, thanks for playing our game! The shield breaking is definitely the most confusing part of the game, but the tooltip should disappear after selecting sword, fire, and enchant, not sure what happened there :(
this is by far the best game from the jam I have played so far. the art is fantastic and its pretty polished too, i did encounter a bug where I couldn't select the slingshot. other than that, my only gripe is that the main gameplay loop of respecing so suit the situation isn't explained super well. for me it was a little confusing that they still called skill points even though they function very differently than in other games.
Thank you for the compliment, that's fantastic to hear! Sorry to hear about the slingshot bug though, and the idea is definitely a novel one as far as we can tell, but we were hoping the tooltips and pauses would help the players. Any recommendations on what would make it more clear on what to do?
I think that even though the concept started as a spin on classic rpg leveling systems, it would cause less confusion if it was presented as something else. functionally the same but flavored as "stances" or something. an easier way would probably just be to have a sentence in the tutorial that says that you need to respec to fit the situation lol.
Loved the character sprites! The melody of the BGM was enjoyable, but would have loved a bit more variance so it wasn't just a single short loop.
Like the idea of having to adjust my kit on the fly to deal with the current enemy. Think there's a lot of space to play around with that idea.
Thanks, we had lots of ideas to still implement into the system, but limited our scope for a one week jam, we hope to expand the game afterwards. Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing on stream! Like I said on stream, it took a while for me to get into the flow of making quick decisions about my skill tree mid-combat, but once I got the hang of it the genre became something new that I quite enjoyed. Some clarity over the shield ability would go a long way but the sounds and the enemies were super cool, and you made a lot of complicated systems come together really beautifully in short time. Great job!
Thanks for the feedback! It was greatly appreciated. The shield is definitely a strange one, and one that we didn't quite get around to balancing
Thanks for streaming our game!
Game looks great and fun to play. I like the idea. Great job!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
The combat mechanics were confusing at first, but once i got the hang of it it got quite fun.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Hey guys, sounds like a crash was preventing people from proceeding past an early boss battle. We've gone ahead and fixed that.
I really dig the theme. Soldier Squirrels fit that HereToSlay vibe.
Along with the worded guides, might be good to outline objects I should click on so as to know what your guide is suggesting I do. Got the hang of it after a while though.
Thanks for checking it out, and good suggestion!
Goodlooking game. My biggest hurdle was not realizing I had to reset talent trees mid-combat to counter enemies. I expected it to unlock everything over time.
I remember seeing you in the discord asking for help with the thumbnail, now the text really does pop.
The game itself was pretty cool, love the art and everything, the concept was fun, only complaint is that the buttons feel a little unresponsive
Fantastic art, took me a bit to figure out I could reset my talents tree mid combat haha
