Really cool concept! Wish the mechanics could have been tested a bit more to avoid the bugs and confusing goals. It has some good bones to it, but needed a bit more time in the oven. Great work putting this together!

I think that this is a good starting point in developing games!

The game looks cool, and the concept is interesting. Had fun running around and killing zombies. However I have to agree that the lack of a goal makes it lose the fun fast. A simple score system at least would push us players to try and do better instead of just surviving, because if I just want to survive instinctively I just want to hung out outside. Still, the idea of killing zombies with a sword and fireball spells is fun by itself, so it's a good prototype.

Even though the assets are premade it is still important to make a good level, and I liked the one you made. Outside it feels cozy and alive, which contrasts the dead look inside the portal.

I did find some bugs which I think is important to note

  • The dash ability is cool but it's a little broken and it tends to get you stuck under things. The first time I got stuck under a tree and I had to reload the game. Another time I dashed and clipped through the house, getting stuck on top of it. Thankfully  I could still enter the door but it breaks the immersion
  • Some of the zombies spawn and despawn very rapidly at the start of each wave. Sometime they despawn at the middle of it, which seems weird
  • I don't know if I'm killing myself with the sword, or the UI is not tracking your health right. One time I swung my sword at multiple zombies and I simply vanished. Then I wanted to see what would happen if I die, but my character always disappears when I have 20/30 hp left. Maybe my real health is lower but the UI doesn't know that.
  • You can walk on water and go to the edge of the map!

Nice work, certainly a good start to a game. Great work on the graphics(even if not made yourself, asssembling them still requires some work) and the controls. currently missing a bit of a goal, fighting an endless wave of zombies can only be fun for so  long :]
