How does your game fit the theme?
After each platforming level, there is are one or more doors, where you can open one. there might be more hp, less hp, or a lvl3 boss after the tutorial level.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote the code myself, and used public domain assets. Credits are in the game page and the credits screen.

Fun game, I was missing a bit of an ending.

I really loved the spell combat, switching between different cooldown timers added a bunch of fun to the boss battles! Great job, especially considering it's your first jam :)

The game was super fun! I found the doors mechanic super cool, and the additional abilities were super cool as well! I think the physics felt a bit goofy to me... jumps felt really nice, but moving horizontally felt very all or nothing.

That's a very cool basic platformer that adds some cool new twists to it
I think the doors changing health are really cool
Definitely is shown that you've added a lot of mechanics as you go on through the game like combat and multiple door selections
I feel like you should've focused on just the platforming bit to perfect it so it feels better

Cute simple platformer, but very impresive for being your first game! Congrats!

Here's my feedback:

  • Lack of feedback when receiving damage. Would be great for a hitstun, character flashing white, knockback or something.
  • If you drop off a ledge and press the jump, the character levitates for a bit before falling. I doubt that was intended.
  • Does the game end? Honestly I quit a couple of minutes after seeing all 3 bosses and weapons.
  • Maybe more variety with the doors, so far I only saw the 3 bosses, 3 weapons and the + or - hp.
  • Some music would definitely help add more feel to the game, even some simple beats. I thought it was pretty "lifeless" without any.

Despite everything, I still think you did a pretty good job if this was really your first game made ever. Keep it up!

Great job completing a making your first game during a jam! It is quite polished, and has elements of different genres well represented. To make it even better, you can checkout how to do movement controllers for platformers in a manner which allows more playability (there is a good GMTK video about it). Nevertheless, good first game!

Neat little game, some audio like the lightning was a bit high pitched for my ears! 

But sweet mechanics first run I had bad RNG and next I had tons of health haha!

Some coz music would have made the game very wonderfull for sure!

Congrats on making your first game and finishing the jam. The concept is simple but you made it fun to play. I suggest adding a few enemies outside the boss room because right now the combat mechanics are only used when fighting a boss. You can also add some obstacles that can be broken using the player's ability.

Great work! The only issues that I encountered were that I made the boss to jump off the platform and after that I was not able to open the door :D Also, jumping into the void reset hearts, I don't think it was intended

This was a cute little game, the powerups are cute and the difficulty is consistent. I reached a part where i got stuck after beating a lvl 1 boss and doors gave me the reward but didn't teleport me somewhere else, I wasn't sure whether that was the intended end point or if I got bugged

Enjoyable little platformer! I want to say night job first of all. I wish there was some background music as the world felt a bit empty without it. I also would have liked a bit more progression so I felt like I was working toward something. There was a stretch were all I got was HP up and didn't see a boss for a ton of doors. Then after the boss that showed up I got nothing but HP down for a long time. The controls were nice if not a bit floating and I wish you had a key bind to open doors rather than clicking on them, but overall wonderful work.

I'm also in the jam, and I know with more time everyone has a list of things they'd like to add or wanted to add. I try to provide the listed feedback in a constructive form to highlight different perspectives as a player and to show that I indeed did play the game.

  • Great use of Kenney's assets
  • Having the multiple doors after a boss fight was a bit confusing.
  • I was able to get to boss lvl 2 before boss 3? Boss 2 was harder than boss 3.
  • I wish the boss mechanics had more engagement that wasn't just shoot, jump, shoot, jump, shoot.
  • Small polish, don't show the doors until the boss is defeated

Great job at your first game jam game!
