How does your game fit the theme?
The player dives down a chasm to reach the center of the planet. The main draw of the game is the ability to "dive" downwards using the titular "Ground Pound" move.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes. All code, assets, and music were made by me with the exception of the "pop" sound effect, and the "low rumble" sound effect which were taken from Pixabay which provided them for free.

What an experience! Great work!

Good Start! It gets a little repetitive, but a solid foundation!

Pretty fun and smooth game with solid artwork and cool soundtrack. Energetic and flow-state-y Squishing 4+ blue guys in a row feels satisfying. I would've probably added some sort of reward for squishing them, as they often can be avoided. Not really a dealbreaker though :D

This is a fun game! I appreciate the tutorial. Only things I was missing were arcade score+highscore, pound and hit SFX and a sick combo system. I managed to squich multiple blues with one pound, I'd love to see some satisfying juice like screenshake, sounds and combo multipliers flying over my screen. Great job!

Good idea for a game. Improved music and colors)

Really simple and effective game. The graphics may be simple but they show an understanding in visual design, you've used colors efficiently for visual clarity and game design indications. Everything works great.

I think a little bit more polish and feedback on the main mechanics would really make the game pop! Congrats!

Fun, well thought out game. The controls are easy and don't take long to learn.  Overall good entry. Well done!

Great game! Love the art style and music! I think this game has potential for a speed run mode, I definitely wanted to keep playing! Awesome job!

Cool entry! I can definitely see your inspiration shining through in the game. I really like the ending as well, thought it was funny. Nice one 👍

I really like the idea and it felt nicely executed with the controls feeling good. Graphics was IMHO adorable the way it was done.  Would like some more levels ofc though! Good job so far!

Thank you! I definitely see how it can be a little too short. I'd like to make the game longer in the future.

I think the game was way too short to be fun... but i enjoyed everything else about it, the artstyle, sound effects, the mechanics are great, but if it was longer it would be much better!

Thanks for the feedback! I wanted to make a game that wasn't too long but I can see how it can be too short.

Very unique and fun game, however I felt like it was way too short.

Thanks for the feedback! I wanted to keep it short and sweet but I understand that it can a little too short.

Solid game!

First, the character is not in water. Bonus points for that xD.

Now, for the real review ^^. The controls are sharp, and the fact that we can move horizontally while ground-pounding is a really nice addition. I wasn't expecting it, and it made it really fun to break through multiple platforms at once!

The level design was pretty good, but it felt sometimes unfair to lose a life because of a red enemy that was off-screen before the pound, and that I couldn't avoid. Maybe if I could cancel the ground-pound to fall slower and avoid them, it would feel less unfair?

The music was punchy and catchy, but I would have enjoyed more sounds, especially when crushing a platform or squashing an enemy. It would have been even more satisfying this way, but I enjoy the little "squashed" effect =p.

The ending was hilarious xD. The cutscene is really good and is a perfect finale for suck a goofy character!

So yeah, overall, I really liked this game. It's simple, but with a clever mecanic that makes it really fun ^^!

Oh, and be careful, when the game starts, it's possible to press "left" and ground-pound at the right time to go above the left wall and escape the level =p

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I too think that sounds would really help to make the game feel more satisfying but I ran out of time. I'd like to add sound effects in a later build. Also thank you for pointing out that oversight, I'll make sure to patch it out momentarily!

This game is very good! Making a whole game using the ground pound mechanic is very cool!
