Really creative well designed game.... the whole exchange process was very tedious though. When you threw the circle in you also had to re catch the triangle and if the boss hit the triangle you had to start all over again..... it just lacks a bit of fun when I had to keep doing this 4/5 for style points tho
Hey there, I am trying to get other to re-submit their reviews for my game if possible...it was deleted and removed from the Jam on accident based on a technicality which was solved between the Jam Host and a particular asset used in the game...please if you have time, energy, and/or generosity to re-saved your ratings/reviews for the game. I am going through and re-saving yours given my browser kept your rating saved data on my end...but it looks like I lost all 73 reviews and ratings from my end.... :( best of luck to you in the Jam
Sorry for the inconvenience if you have a chance to rate/re-rate
Really creative way to handle the theme, sadly not really fun in gameplay.
The main issue for me was necessary to run from exchanging to the exchanger by foot, and our hero is not really agile. Yes, you can throw your figures, but most of the time they are actively blocking the path to it, so throw is no longer an option, maybe different routes for bosses to stand and shoot may fix it?
But besides the actual gameplay, the bosses are cool looking and music is awesome!
Thank you for playing my game. I only had an alternate route for the player during the tutorial boss fight. I feel I should have elaborated more on the main mechanic in the instructions and also show how to make use of the arrows on the floor, if you shoot in the same direction as the arrows the shape will hit the pool (even if the pool is off screen) and the exchanged shape will be passed back to you. In the first main boss (one that just goes left and right), if you shoot a triangle towards the square pool, the returning projectile will hit the boss from behind, without you having to bypass him.
Cool take on Exchange. Like others had said, hard to get the mechanic at first. Had to come back to this page and read comments. I don't think the tutorial says to hold the left click to catch. All in all though, nice game!
This is a pretty interesting idea! It did take me a while to realize how the catching mechanic worked, for some reason I kept trying to click the shapes with the mouse lol.
Thank you for playing my game. I kinda rushed the tutorial instructions, I found that many players didn't get right away how the mechanic works. Should have elaborated more on that.
Great music and art, very interesting mechanic and fun gameplay.
If I had to give some feedback, it is so annoying when you are holding a shape and the boss hits you and you lose the shape, idk if that is intended but that is kinda annoying, other than that the game is very fun to play.
The visual are nice, the third boss design looks really cool. The gameplay are nice, the shape changing mechanics is interesting, and I like how the boss get faster more difficult when their hp is low.
Tho the boss took a bit too long to beat, I feel like it would be better if the boss having less hp than the last one as the increase number of shapes to exchane already increased the difficulty and the time to beat the boss.
But still, cool game!
Thank you for trying out my game :)
I agree with you, during play testing the last boss felt too difficult because of the long distances in between the shape pools. I was aiming to give move room to the player from an aggressively chasing boss, but that takes a hit on the paise of the fight.
I want to add more stuff after the game jam and touch a bit more on the last boss difficulty.
The music is awesome. The art too. But i think the bosses have too much health, and it took me a while to get used to catching the exchanged shapes. The game is awesome though.
Wow killer music! Hats off to the person who made the music, I was rockin' out while huckin' shapes.
Wow the tutorial took me so long to figure out but I got there eventually haha. Really cool concept, I wish it would catch the exchanged shape automatically. I appreciate the amount of visual feedback it gives with the arrows and conversions but I wish mechanically it was a little more forgiving, e.g. once I figured out how to throw projectiles into the pool I just kept damaging myself because I expected to just have the new one
Very unique art style and great use of theme.
Very cool concept, and very nice presentation. Really love the idea of the game, but the actual gameplay becomes a bit tedious rather quickly.
First time I tried it, I bounce right off, cause I caught the circle projectile, threw it in the pool... and nothing happened. Now that I tried it and figured out you need to catch the projectile again, it became obvious.
The bullets in general seem to be a bit on the very fast side, and the tutorial boss ramping up it's fire rate after taking damage, had me loosing shapes left and right, trying to know off the last 1-2 chunk of it's health.
Definitely a fun little arcade throwback experience!
Yeah I know. If you time your dash when coming out from behind the wall, you can kill him easily. Thank you for trying out my game.
grab circle ->back exchange for triangle-> go back to boss-> get shot -> lose triangle
repeat.
I lose to tutorial boss 10/10
The exchanger is too far from each other make the game too slow
Yeah, I felt the tutorial boss difficulty got way steeper than expected. The tutorial phase is the only one with a wall so you can get familiar with the concept before attacking. If you time your dashes in between the bosses shots you can defeat him without loosing any damage.
Loved the boss design and the game's take on the theme. Good work
Nice concept and usage of the theme, the holding button became annoying quickly. If the player "parry" the attacks and then exchange the shapes in the place will be more fun to play
