First time i saw your game in the jam two things immediately popped up in my mind, Bloodborne and Gloomwood. I definitely had to play this game and i am glad i did.
First off, i like the aesthetics. You totally nailed the Victorian Era atmosphere and the fact that you created all the assets yourself makes it much impressive. I break one star because i don't like the character's arms, they look weird. Idk maybe you designed the player as some kind of steampunk robot or something like that.
Boss design is pretty good aesthetically. The first boss reminded me of the pig enemies from Bloodborne. First boss glitches a lot. It's stuck on walls, it jumps 5 meters to the air or launches me into the air. But it was fun fighting it. You just dodge out of it's way and shoot basicly. Second boss is less glitchy but it has this attack where it shoots a blue projectile thing and you can't evade it. It looks like some kind of creepy puppet, i like it's visual design too.
Controls are fine. Sliding mechanic makes the game much more fun and dynamic. It works kinda like the dodge mechanic of Bloodborne.
The upgrade system is good but i didn't get how you trigger an upgrade screen. It's not a RPG game. Does it appear after a certain time or when you deal a certain amount of damage to the bosses? In any case, it works well and fits the theme of the jam perfectly. Also adds more depth to combat. Only thing is, it pops up in the screen during battle and you can automatically click on any upgrade by mistake.
My final thoughts are, it's a very cool game. I can see that you wanted to add more content to the game but ran out of time before doing it. Game is good even in it's unfinished state. I liked it and had fun playing it. I wish you all the luck to make great games like this in the future!
