How did you/your team interpret the theme?
Inspired by the Card Game "Boss Monster" I wanted to create a top down dungeon crawler, where the player plays a dragon, laying traps and sending minions to fight a raiding knight, by playing different card abilities. Due to time constraints, and coding abilities, I have only partially reached that goal, but what stands is a fun little mini-brawler card game, that I have been having fun play testing, and creating. I hope you enjoy it!

How was your/your team's experience in this jam?
I have truly enjoyed working in my first Jam, I met new and talked with a few new people in Discord, and have learned a lot of new techniques through necessity, its been a really great experience.

Very good art, I like the concept a lot and the actual battles are very well done. The dialogue and text has a lot of charm too.

Nice art, good concept, gameplay is a little random, but still good. Overall good job!

Really enjoyed the art style and the music!
You also did a really great job with the dialogue.

Would have loved to have had some sort of audio feedback during combat, but otherwise a super great job!

I love the music and art, the card concept it's interesting but they seem a little unbalanced. Also the  girl called the great seems to be cheating because she heals herself each turn and then there were no way to make her any damage.

Congratulations on your first jam!

Wow the art in this is incredible! I felt that the cards could have been a bit more descriptive and there would be more interaction with the other enemy other than just a slugfest. However listening to the music made playing through to the end worth it!

Beautiful are and nice music. I have some critique for the gameplay tho. First off the abilities being almost compltely random is a bad idea in my opinion. On my first playthrough I lost all my AP quite quickly and wasn't able to do much. Also adding a small sound clue when your turn starts would have been nice. At first I didn't realize that the text in the middle signals when you can attack and was kinda confused. Still really nice work!

Hah! I caught that Trogdor reference. This is a really neat idea and so far seems to be coming together well. Definitely would like to see more cards added and some improvement on the UI in a polished version down the line. Really great job!

The art is really good. Maybe you should give more visual informations when someone takes a hit. Like a text with how many HP the character has lost etc...

Thanks for checking it out! On my to do list is Numerical representation for Health and Action points, just ran out of time.

The style is beautiful and the game is fun, it lacks a battle ending. I love the dragon animation.

This is a gorgeous game! The music is nice too (I discovered the escape key toggled the music and I liked all of it. I love the concept of this game and would love to see a more polished version of the gameplay.

A few critiques:

  • The gameplay feels 100% luck to me. I couldn't figure out a strategy and I tried it a few times. I really feel like this could be awesome if the deck were a little more consistent / didn't make me feel like it was pure luck.
  • The credits page would not load for me
  • The screen that shows the description of the concept before the first battle is annoying to watch everytime. If there is a way to skip it, I couldn't find it.

Overall, I loved the concept and thought the game was gorgeous. Incredible work for 1 week.

Are you talking about the Text Dialogue that explains that your a Dragon? or the Credits page, which describes my pesonal experience? if youre referring to the Dialogue, that's the "Story" and no there is no way to skip it, but I could implement that. If its the Credits pages, that explains my personal experience... hmm. that should only be visible if you press the Credits button. I had some trouble exporting the HTML build but it is up and running on the Page if you want to try it that way, and get to read the story... If the story is what you're referring to... then Sorry its annoying...?

Thanks for checking it out! And I plan on further developing it, cause yeah, right now the came is pretty random. The cards are slightly weighted to ensure you (usually) have a card youre able to play,  but yeah, there are a few Ideas i have to address that. Thanks for your feed back!

Edit: Upon rereading your comment, I understand you meant the story dialogue... I will work on a skip!

Edit 2: The cutscene is now skippable, by pressing X. :-)

*Other Edits: spelling and grammar... lol, probably still horrendous.

The first thing about the game, is the art is really incredible! This is not just the dragon and the heroes, but everything from the backgrounds to the card art. The game has a lot of character, and I especially liked the text on the cards. The music was also a really nice touch as well!

I had a minor bug where the game wouldn't display properly on my monitor so I had to change my monitor resolution to see the whole screen, but it worked great other than that! I think it's a really solid game, and even more impressive that it was made in just a week!

Thanks! I have some time to update during late submission... can you let me know what setting you had to change? Ill try to update the build settings so theyre more adaptable. its my first time releasing something, and have little idea what settings to use. Thanks!

I had to change my resolution down to 1920x1080, my monitor isn't a standard 16:9 aspect ratio which was causing the problem. I don't think it's going to be a problem for most people, so I wouldn't worry if it's a hassle to try and rebuild it!
