Enjoyable game! I've been playing nuclear throne recently and I got some similar vibes from your game in terms of gameplay and design, which is a good thing! I liked the randomised pickups, the caution of trying not to carry too much and the various enemies. The explosive/mines inparticular were great to try to line them up so you could take out a bunch of enemies in one go. It's definitely a challenging game but that's not a bad thing either haha.

The larger enemies did sometimes get stuck on corners, but that's the only thing I noticed throughout my 5 or 6 playthroughs of the game. Really well designed and a good, challenging experience from start to finish. Great entry for the jam, well done! :)

Personally this is the winner for me, nailed the theme and gameplay , sfx design Nice job mate

Awesome look. I alaways wanted to do something like this. Enemies desing is really good

Fun game, good use of theme. I think I would've preferred getting optional improvements to your gun that would weigh you down each room instead of new gun options. I didn't find that the choice was meaningful if I happened to like the gun I started with.

all 5 stars from me!

Amazing game, I really liked the different guns you could equip. The music was a little repetitive but the shooting sounds were good. I really liked the shot effects and explosions, and the boss was pretty fun. The game reminded me a lot of the sly hacking minigame. Overall, really fun would play again.

A solid entry. I killed the boss after a few tries.

There are a few issues, but the game is fun overall.

A nice room shooter that had just the right amount of enemy types to enhance the experience, though the mechanics make finishing a level feel less rewarding-when you have to slowly try and travel to the next room+reload.

- My favorite part is the enemies, there's the right mix of types there to give you low and high priority targets, and mines to potentially try and take advantage of.
The sound/music/particles etc came together well to help give the games presentation personality as you played it which helped improve the overall experience too, the bloom/monitor lens of the field was just short of being too overdone so it didn't feel tacky like it sometimes can.

- I can see the appeal of having the rooms stretch top to bottom to be symmetrical, but The HUD at the bottom could end up hiding you and/or the enemies which wasn't great.
And though part of the games concept, it would be good if after defeating the last enemy in the room your encumbrance was ignored, so you didn't have to so slowly try and reach the next level. There's no enemies for the risk/reward of weight to play out, that made the finish of a battle feel a bit anticlimactic.
It would be nice if when an object to pickup was highlighted, it also popped up how much storage it would cost you.
A smaller thing, but some of the weapons have a shooting cooldown, it would be nice if a simpler bar color expanded and disappeared to indicate you could shoot again-similar to how the reload bar shrinks down.

Thanks for the feedback! I was planning on having a number for weight, as well as arrows showing what stats increase, and what stats decrease, but the deadline kinda crept up on me.

I'll definitely try and fit the UI outside the room, cause I can definitely see how that can be an issue.

I also definitely like the idea of the cooldown bar, since that's definitely a concern guns like the sniper rifle, and the grenade launcher.

I'm planning on polishing this game up and selling it on steam for a few bucks, so any tips on how to make it better are great

The gameplay, tutorial, and overall presentation were very well put together! Nice work overall. I think it would have been cool if you added recoil to guns so you could give yourself a little "boost" if you needed.

Developer(+1)

That's actually a really good idea! I never thought of that!

I'm planning on polishing this up, quadrupling the content, and selling it for a few bucks on steam, so this is definitely something I'm gonna add!

Well I hope you the best of luck!

This game was super fun! Great gameplay and aesthetics. The guns remind me of Enter the Gungeon. Great job!

Wow, man, what an experience! I had a blast playing this! Movement? Super smooth?! Gameplay? Polished and EPIC! Music? Incredible! Overall? Awesome!

This was an incredible game to play, and I had heaps of fun doing it! I loved all of the mechanics, the tutorial helped a lot, and the amount of polish with the particles, screen shake, transition effects, and sound effects really went a long way to creating such a complete and wonderful game to play! Top marks on this one, this was so cool! You should be super proud of yourself, and I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up getting in the top leaderboards of the jam! Congratulations! :D

Thank you so much! I worked many sleepless nights on it, so I'm glad that you had fun playing it!

No worries! Make sure to take time to care for yourself, too! That's just as important! :D

Just curious, what was your high score? If you haven't forgotten it, lol

Oops, I was meant to write that in my comment! Have forgotten it now, but would it be likely that I could have around 6000 points about level 7? Just some very vague memories of that! Anyway, I'll definitely be coming back to it when I need a game to play in class! xD
