im not the best at creating good music but i tried my best and i think its good for this type of game :p

Really nice and compact metroid vania! I found your secret even :D Aside from some controls polish I would say it's a finished game! Keep doing game development!

Developer

thanks! and i will, i love game dev

room:has softlock spikes so you cant get stuck.

me:still manages to get a soft lock without access to said spikes

Developer

how?!? xD

Submitted(+1)

i went down to that room early and somehow managed to get stuck here (i didn't manage to replicate it so this isn't the original photo)

i think it might have something to do with the momentum not lining up with the frames because the frames were low at the time

I can confirm, the gravity/player jump height acts very weird there. I noticed that jumping while holding A/D first works better than trying to jump first and then A/D.

Developer

oooh yea i forgot to use delta

Submitted(+1)

I completed normal mode but there is a platform the left that you can jump straight through, did you know about this? I tried hard mode but it was... well... too hard :) - Nice game though, I love how it says you made it to space when you win!

Developer(+1)

yea that platform is intentional, i didnt know how to tell the player to jump down so i just trick them lol also glad you enjoyed it!

font difficult to read

Developer

ok maybe a littlebit but i wanted a pixel font for myself and every font online had some sort of copytight to it so i just made my own font

Nice game there, interesting

Submitted(+1)

I want to preface this by saying, it's a really fun game. I enjoyed this a lot. I am not sure if you can edit this or not, but there is a collision on the normal mode that is not working, not sure if it was intentional.

Developer

it is intentional because i didnt know hhow to tell the player to jump down the pit so i just trick them

That is clever

i like art, good game

Love your game. The player always knows very quickly how to proceed and learns how the basic principle works in normal mode.

The hard mode is also very good, only I had the feeling that the difficulty got easier as the level progressed (especially with the 4th package and jump into space).

Developer

yea i was getting kinda bored at the last few

This is a really well-made game, especially for releasing it 5 days, 9 hours before the deadline. Good work with the art as well, as it really drew me into the 8-bit arcade-style. With a few more levels and some story elements, you could definitely release this as a full game. Either way 8/10!

nice game im realy bad at it but i passed the hard level after 20 minutes thats sad

Developer(+1)

well at least you beat it so good job!

im very happy you enjoyed it :D

its really fun its just that some jumps feel too unforgiving. You could add some coyote time as I found myself just walking off blocks when trying to jump. I like how open the world is and its a fun game mechanic .

Developer

i dont know how to add coyote time... sry

Developer(+1)

i may try tho

When you use Unity i can give you a script

very fun to play but i feel like im walking on ice

Developer

yea i made the friction too low

Developer

i fixed that

nice

me likey
pros: looks good visually, has a fun mechanic, overall fu n
con: the occasional blind jump into a cavernous void
"makes me go yes" - IGN 10/10

Developer(+2)

too much milk i see

Developer

i fixed that

Submitted(+1)

it's really cool, dude!
artstyle is pretty good
bringing thet metroidvania-like into the level was a really good idea

the only thing a didnt like is that player dont stop moving instantly

Developer

yea i think i made the friction too low but thanks for the feedback!

(+1)

I had a lot of fun playing your game and I hope you do well in the game jam! The only criticism I have is that I wasn't always sure where to go and had to go through a bit of trial and error...

Developer(+1)

ty for the feedback dood!

Submitted(+1)

ok so

this is a decent game and it is really well done for how it was made in a day but i do have a few problems with it

1: the controls

it feels both really slippery and really stiff at the same time. the gravity is really high making the game feel like you are attached to an anchor and the acceleration is way too slow

2. the metroidvania aspect

this might not be that much of a problem to someone who likes metroidvanias but the level design is kinda not great. it has a crash mind over mutant like idea of backtracking where you go through the same part of the level over and over again with no difference between the multiple times and there's not even different routes to get there

but other then that the idea and concept of the game is really creative and the pixel art is well done

good job

Developer

thanks so much for the feedback! yea its my first time creating both a platformer and a metroid vania game also my first time finnishing a game in godot (i did finnish some games back when i used unity tho) i experimented with new things and had fun! hope you had fun too! with that platformer stuff i will definetly play around with the parameters later
