Who knew a 1D game could be so terrifying! The sound effects really gave those 3px ghosts a bite. I liked your use of colour (green clearly marked being outside of the mansion)

I really liked the interpretation of the theme in 1D. It is really unique and creative, how many things can be represented with just points on a straight line. Although, there is still room for improvement but is really good for a proof of concept. One thing which I think can be improved is the color gradation (as it was quite hard to distinguish between objects) and a tutorial might have actually helped a bit to figure out things. Anyway, an amazing idea! I hope you take it to next level. All the best man!

Also, if you have some time, please play and review my game. Thanks!

Brilliant idea. I wish it had music and a little less robot like voice. But the sound was very elaborate on what to do even though you only had 1 pixel to work with. It took me a minute to figure out the things at the side and middle that are black are doors.

I don't get this at all, am I missing something?

Basically it's an exploration game. Rooms have doors you can move through (I used a consistent 2 pixel wide dark purple for doors), a couple of which need keys to unlock (denoted by stationary blinking pixels). Along the way, ghosts can attack you (flashing, moving pixel masses). You can either run from the ghosts or defeat them by taking pictures of them with your camera, which does bonus damage and knockback when they are closer.

There were definitely a lot of places I could have improved on the clarity. I'm back and forth on if I want to expand on this. I appreciate the feedback, even negative.

I think your onto something with this, my small brain just doesn’t really understand what he’s seeing. I’ll try it again though.

Oo this has so much potential! I didn't know 1-D games were a thing but I'm very into it.

A 1D game is a great interpretation of the theme! It was fun!

The idea for a 1D game is so cool! It's really unique and fits the game jam's theme incredibly well!

You again ;) . I really like the experiment. Great job.

An original and interesting idea! I took this as a game where you have to fill in the visual blanks yourself. The gameplay is just as cool even so. The sounds are great too!

Super creepy, I love it! Really great concept, I'd totally play a full game with this premise! Sound & voice design is also stellar!

Really cool game and very innovative.

Hard at the start to know what's going on, but once you get it it's just like any other game. Really liked the lighting as well with the light going back and forth in one room, you really made the most of what could be done with one dimension.

Crazy innovative game. At first it was really hard to tell what was going on until I made the connections on what lines represented what. Great implementation of the theme "Less is More," where you've really nailed the mood using only one dimension. My only complaint is that the sounds are pretty loud and it's hard to tell what they're saying. Great work overall!

Surprisingly spooky, given you only had one dimension to work with! I really didn't expect much, but the mechanics are actually pretty fun!

I like it however the gradients make it a bit hard to tell what's what and the ghost are quick, but I love the concept and would play an extended version.

i dont know whats going on

Thanks for feedback. It was definitely hard juggling making the game legible and making it atmospheric. I'll try to explain what I was trying to get across...

Ghosts are represented by translucent flickering pixel clusters that move. When you press Z/Space, there's a flash in front of your character that represents a camera flash. The closer an enemy is, the more damage and knockback they take from your camera.

All the rooms have doors in them, which you enter with Z/Space. They are all the same color and all 2 pixels wide.  They are also usually a source of light in rooms. A couple doors are locked. To unlock them, you simply need to walk over the keys (which flash to make them more visible). You just have to reach the last locked room to win.
