What I would love to see would be some sound effects for shooting and hitting enemies!

The only hard part I had was the camera but outside of that I loved the jumping! I feel like it remidns me of Getting Over It, where you can see the area above you slightly and when you fall down it's the previous section! :D Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, and the camera seems to be a common problem, will refine it in later games. You're right about the enemy sound effects, I tried to implement them but i couldn't get it to work and I was running short on time. Glad you enjoyed it!

Submitted

Aye you did good! I'm glad you got this far with it! :D I can't wait to see what you'll make next!

Hey, good job! Legit you learned from scratch and made a functioning game. Fix the camera up, add some more reactive sound effects (enemies getting hit, them dying, a landing noise etc.) and give yourself some i-frames after being hit and you got the foundation for a solid platformer.  Definitely felt my heart lurch when I tumbled down Getting-Over-It style.

All in all, you should be proud of this submission. Legit, you got a good game in!

Developer

Thanks, and while I did try implementing i-frames and enemy sound effects, i could not get them to work as i was running short on time. Thank you for your kind words!

Platforming is pretty good,  you take a lot of damage from the baddies so you die pretty quick. One thing i would ask to be remedied, please, please, stop the camera shake. It gave me a headache.

Developer(+1)

oof, very sorry about the camera, i could not get it to work how i wanted it to and was running short on time, and you're right about the enemy thing which is due to a lack of invincibility frames (which i couldn't get to work as it was too complex).

Nice basic platformer had a fun time playing through it. Good Job!!!

Developer

Thanks!

If you get a chance id love it if you could check out my game and give me some feedback on it as well as rate it :).

Neat platformer, movement didn't feel too bad & the difficulty was pretty consistent. I will say though that I wish there were more invincibility frames, because sometimes I'd accidentally lose two lives from one collision with an enemy. Good job regardless!

Developer

Thank you! And yes i should've added more invincibility frames.

Enjoyable lil platformer. Nice work!

Developer

Thanks! Makes me happy that you enjoyed it.

Very impressive for your first game, great job! Enjoyed the movement and the music and art were very good and suited the game well. However, at times the camera felt a bit jarring, some camera dead zone could help with this, and I got soft stuck right after you encounter the first snake like enemy, if you could let me know how to get past that bit it would be great(I kept hitting my head and couldn't manage to jump to the platform above). Other than really solid entry. Congrats on your first unity game!! :)

Developer

not really my first game, this is the first game i have made with unity though. And for the part after the first Snake, you do need to land on the platform above, it may take a few tries. Glad that you enjoyed it!

For only knowing unity for a week this game is pretty amazing, not something I could've down when I was a beginner in unity too (I started in unity but changed pretty quickly to Godot because my computer at the time wasn't so great)

Two things you should add in my opinion:

  1. More feedback to hitting an enemy.
  2. A motive to kill enemies (I only had two instances where I needed to kill to progress)

Well, nothing more I can say given your level in unity so maybe you can rate my game too now.

Developer

Thanks, i heavily relied on tutorials but had to do a few things on my own, noted your feedback and will check out your game!

good game

Developer

Thanks!

Not bad for the first game in Unity.

Developer

Thank you! Glad you liked it.

very basic platformer, had fun with it.

Developer

It was my first game using a complex engine like Unity so a basic platformer is to be quite expected lol. Great to hear that you had fun with it!
