How does your game represent Mode?
My game changes the mode in each screen, a little adventure where you have platforms, a shooter, or a nod to the old Game & Watch games from the '90s.

Thank you for your entry. I also had problems with the presition platforming. I also kept bumping my head on the block above me. Other than that the visuals and transitions were really smooth. Impressive work.

Yeah, I just realized the version I posted didn't have the jump fixed x'D, so no wonder it seemed so challenging. I'll throw in that correction after the JAM is done. Thanks for pointing it out!

Really nice entry! And that's even more impressive that you just learned making game last month?? Props to that. The cutscene is well done too. The controls feels nice. My main problem is the precision platforming section in the start of the tower; it's a little too tight especially for beginning part. With a control that's closer to Mario, I'd recommend less precision jumps that require run button in same time.

i enjoyed my time with this one, the transitions felt smooth. all the modes are fun but the platforming felt like ice physics, and in the sandal survival mode, after dying, you can die again right as you respawn which felt unfair (you can solve this with a small amount of time of invincibility on respawn). really solid game, and very enjoyable. great job! (also, isn't there a copyright issue with jump king being in one of the cutscenes? lol)

Haha, xD, yeah, the Jump King thing is just an easter egg. If they wanna call me out for it, I don't think they'd get anywhere. Maybe if I made it a big deal in the game, it could be a problem, but then we wouldn't have any fan games at all. And seriously, the "ice" on the platforms, have they never played Mario? x'D... Oh, and I realized way too late about the lives issue, couldn't add an invincibility thing. Thanks for the heads up, and thanks for playing and leaving a comment!

By the way, I wanted to toss in a couple more cutscenes to really drive home the story, but I ran out of time.
Been messing around with 3D stuff lately, but I bet I'll circle back to this project to add in those cool suggestions and more stuff! :P

An impressive entry for only having one month of experience! I think it was great how you were able to fit top-down, side-scrolling and shooter gameplay into it; each of them had fun elements!

A few tips, mostly to do with the platforming. It felt very slippery to control, kind of like ice physics (both with and without running). I think the big thing is that the speed should increase/decrease at a faster rate. That way, it's easier to judge where each jump will land. Also, the pixel art assets were sometimes in noticeably different resolutions, making them sometimes feel out of place.

Still, this game had a lot of charm, with a wacky sense of adventure. I hope to see more stuff in the future. Keep at it!

Yes, I had some issues with the sizes, especially the parallax background on the platform section, which kept giving me headaches and, in the end, I didn't have time to fix because other more significant bugs emerged. I appreciate your feedback, and I'm already diving into a new project to continue learning more!

I'm glad that the adventurous aspect of the protagonist, aided by the cutscenes, is being appreciated. I wanted to portray him as a guy deeply immersed in video games and, at the same time, as the protagonist of those games. His mother "wakes him up" with a slipper, and he imagines a final game scenario xD... I left some details unfinished due to time constraints and didn't incorporate them!

So cool to see you combine all those different game modes. I'm also at a similar stage in the gamedev journey as you! Started about a little over a month ago too. This is my second jam and I learn so many new stuff so quickly each time I did a jam. Keep on keeping on!

You've managed to get a lot done during this jam and the overall presentation is excellent. Unfortunately I found the platforming controller to be very slippy and I spent a long time getting not very far. The level design requires a lot of precise jumps but the controller doesn't feel like it gives you enough control to make them.
I wish I could have gotten further because the start had me excited to play more. You also had a lot of options in your menus which are often overlooked in jams so good job for that too.

The part with the platforms can be completed without running; literally, my 6-year-old son has done it. Friction, acceleration, and deceleration are present in renowned games like Mario Bros. Nevertheless, I appreciate your time and your comment. Thank you.

Yes, a month ago I wanted to learn how to use Godot, so I started watching tutorials daily. I saw the JAM that provided a reasonable time to learn more, and I signed up!
