really enjoyed this one! The fact that you had to go on your own path instead of the one given to you (even tho you just do the opposite of what you're told :p) was very fun! The ending felt anti climatic tho. Still it was a nice experience good job! (btw i know it's trashy but can you also rate my game? thanks ^^)
Thank you for dropping by! I have a slightly more rewarding ending in the next build of the game. I'll be dropping it later today after the jam ends.
Nice little game :)
Thank you for checking it out!
I loved this game! The idea of having to use the directions given to you, but the opposite, made for a really fun experience. It was really short and sweat, and the simple art and music were also very pleasing. Only complaint is that there isnt a proper ending, but with the time restrictions its understandable.
I struggled with figuring out how to end it because I knew I didnt have time to draw up a whole scene. It was already pretty late in the jam by that time, and I still had other pieces that needed to go in. I am working a little more on it to fit my initial vision a little bit better (edible items to increase time and a shorter timer). Maybe Ill work on creating a final scene for Desertopia as well! Thank you for playing!
This is really great game!
Thank you for dropping by and playing it!
You're welcome! And if you want you can check my game. :D
Nice smooth controls, i like those ! May be i'm lucky but i finished it really fast xD
Because of the time constraints, the size of the map isn't huge (in fact I had to cut few misleading paths to be shorter to save time) because I had to create each room individually. Id really like to create a random mode where it automatically creates rooms and a path, but thats a considerable time investment and lends itself more to a rouge-like than it does for a story driven game. Thanks for playing!
A really nice short game! I loved the pixel art, the camera movement was nice and the music really fit the game.
Thank you for checking it out! Glad you enjoyed it!
Very nice game! I just wish there were more people to distrust, maybe that way you'd have a bit better sense of direction and not just guessing where to go next.
Good to know! I did want to have some level of uncertainty, but perhaps there could be additional people. Thanks for the feedback!
I really liked it. The game mechanic of not trusting people works well and gives you some direction. Maybe you could've made the people more necessary because it feels like you can just ignore them. And maybe it's just me but it felt a bit boring to read the text. A typing effect or sound effects could improve that.
Also liked the graphics, felt the colours and other aspects made it feel like something from a retro console.
Thank you for your feedback! I'll try to think of ways to make talking to people more necessary, and how to make the text and game feel more alive. This was my first attempt at creating a game around dialog box features, so I definitely have room to improve! Glad to hear you liked the graphics and colors as well.
Very nice graphics and well polished! It was pretty easy to get to the destination though :P
Thank you for playing! If I decide to continue development on this project, I will definitely be adjusting the difficulty with a reduced timer and adding items to add time.
Very cool, I made it to the end yay~ (I can rarely do it in jam games haha) The sprite art looked wonderful! Super great job submitting a fun little exploration game to the jam, you did it congrats! Please check out my game when you have time :D (hopefully you don't get the door bug XD)
Thank you for the kind words! I was definitely shooting for an approachable experience more than a savagely difficult game. I'm very glad you enjoyed the game. I'm still considering adding some minor features to it.
This game has some beautiful art and features some nice text/storyline! Love it!
Thank you for commenting on the story/text. I was happy with how the art and text all turned out, as well. Granted, that's what I wanted to focus on in this game jam, so I guess it's good that those elements were decent.
I find implementing text and storyline in such a short time a difficult feat. Well done on that! By the way, would you mind checking out my game in the meantime? Im getting so close to 3rd place so a rating would be much appreciated! :D
I checked it out! Nicely done!
It's fun and cute, not much else to say :D
Thank you for your thoughts! I'm glad you found it fun.
I made it to Destertopia! You know, it's simple and it's enjoyable. That's all I ask for. Transitions were nice, and the little dudes were cute. A nice submission :)
Thank you for checking it out and giving the nice feedback!
I like the simple and clean art style. The music is quite repetitive, which is not very nice for a labyrinth-like game. The screen transitions are really smooth and make navigating the map feel nice.
The gameplay itself is also quite simple, but simplicity has its charms. Cool game!
I agree about the music. It was the best I could muster with little music experience. I was going to use a different tool to create music but it just didn't work out. I'm glad you liked the screen transitions; it was hard to find examples of what I wanted, but I found one finally, and the solution was far easier than I expected. Thanks for checking it out!
I liked the concept a lot! It was pretty easy though since you know they're lying to you. I feel you could've made the gameplay a bit more interesting with maybe enemies that poison you so you loose health faster or something like that, anyways nice game! :D
I had intended to have a timer that was much more limited, with foods/water to increase time, and other things to potentially lower it. Unfortunately my own jam timer ran out lol. I even had frog and onion sprites that didn't make it into the game. Thanks for playing!
Wow nice idea, unfortunately everyone lies so you know the truth. Nice game though :D
Thanks for the feedback. I tried to strategically place them and not make all of the dialog too obvious. I didn't want someone coming by the game later and not understanding why all the directions were wrong. It becomes pretty obvious when you know the theme.
Wish it showed more of desertopia but still cool.
It was a total cop-out as I was running out of time last night/this morning. This game could go in a lot of directions, but having the story continue would be great. Thanks for checking it out!
your welcome. Have you checked out mine?
Ill take a look!
I love the idea. Btw beat it first try (in great school they called me epic gamer)
Good work! I didnt have a lot of time for others to playtest, so I gave a pretty generous timer. Thanks for playing!
Nice little game ^^
Thank you for playing!
Cute little game, a little simple
It was a little simple. My focus for this jam was to work on dialog boxes, art, and making an animation for the first time. Thanks for playing!
