    Needs Work
    + Game loop

There's not a whole lot I can say on this game unfortunately. The game play is really simple and without variety. There are multiple levels that are all the same, with minor visual differences. The concept is pretty juvenile but I did get a kick out of it for that reason. Not much is held over from Frogger really, and there definitely could have been some interesting design opportunities. Honestly, instead of changing the view and art, you could have just taken the original layout, added a gun to your move set and then expanded upon that and had an actually rather interesting and goofy game. The game is complete, with a full loop, but unfortunately that loop just isn't quite appealing enough to want to see more of.

Elevator pitch
Frogger Jr. goes on a rampage to avenge the death of his father.

Describe how your game adheres to the theme
Frogger was the perfect game. Simple and elegant, fun and challenging. It could not be improved. However the untimely death of the protagonist prompted an all new and unnecessary sequel (why did he have to die?).

Pros:
  • Intro cutscene is real funny and silly
  • Good use of the frogger as the pre-intro-thing
  • Simple game and nice end-of-level guitar sting
Cons:
  • Seemingly missable(??) Start screen
  • Camera shake is a bit jarring because it'll just snap back to the starting coordinates, needs some lerp
  • Variety is a bit shallow
Here & There:

When I first played this, I didn't see the start screen at all, so I didn't know you could move left and right. I saw the three lanes and just went up and down, shooting endless cars and apparently never thought to move laterally. When I was going to write this feedback I saw Raujinn's post and found out there was more. I don't know what caused it, but that's a weird thing. The game itself is very simple, there are only 4 types of obstacles and the fourth (the Semi) I only saw spawn once in the final level in a lane I wasn't in so my perfectly valid strategy of holding D and CTRL meant I passed right by. Having some other behaviours, limited ammunition or other weapons and enemies would have gone a long way for this game, but I would still say this game is worth playing for the intro cutscene. The outro was a little bit of a let down considering its simplicity by comparison, unfortunately. It was fun, if a bit simple, and the intro was really strong. Nice.

This game's presentation is cheeky I really like it. Good sound, appropriate art.

You can kind of cheese the game by just sticking to one lane and mashing Control.

Not sure how I feel about having Control be the fire key, felt a little wierd.

Cars can spawn as you're about to reach the goal, leading to unavoidable damage.

I like the cinematic intro. Everything feels pretty good, thought he main game loop is pretty easy. Nice job.
