Track description | Creative process
I tried to keep it simple and fun. Earthbound's soundtrack could best be described as... weird, but in a good way! The first time I heard the shop's music, it felt a bit out of place, but then it hit me, it’s meant to give you a breather after battling all those strange enemies. It's like the music invites you to relax and take a moment to browse for new gear and items. Although, I still wanted to keep a little of that weird sound in this song.

To be honest, I don't think it's my best work, I had so much of a writer's block for a while. Regardless, I still wanted to do something to not lose the habit of composing for fun.

I feel it's strongest in its structure and the adherence to the theme of a shop theme that correctly loops without any gaps.  I'm a stickler for tonality so i would have wanted the whole melody to be on harmonic point but relatively few people do that anyway.  Nicely done.  Liked the slightly whimsical tone selections which are exactly what's called for when it's down-time and the characters are at a shop getting supplies or upgrades.

Very nice track ! Great fit to the theme, and I really like the sounds you used, I actually smiled while listening ! Very relax mood, good job on this one !

The instument choice and pace of the track makes it a great fit for the theme.
And even if it was a good idea to try to include some dissonances, I am not a big fan of the note you chosen.
For exemple right at 0:14 you have an F chord with F at the bass and the melody play E-E-G-G-F#-F#-G.
It sound a bit hollow to me, some of the notes from the F chord extension would have been better candidates here.
You also seems to often land on a "empty fifth" between the bass and the melody (eg at 0:38 D at the bass and A at the melody), it makes it sound a bit "poor".
Good job nonetheless, the two parts complements each other well.

v fun sounding instruments and melody! the layers work together nicely and accomplish the mood and context you've described for the music :> love the break into the counter melody too, that was awesome

I agree with you that Earthbound's soundtracks are weird in a great way (especially "Battle Against a Weird Opponent"). I like your interpretation that the shop music is meant for the player to simply relax. Definitely felt those vibes -- just relax, just look at what's for sale. Awesome work!
