This was definitely an intersection of two concepts that I did not expect to go together! However, I discovered that by constraining the words to a specific order and always having them next to each other made the word search incredibly easy compared to how word searches normally go (since being unconstrained on where to start is what makes it difficult to search out the word).
It would be interesting if the soldier didn't start on the grid already, and you had to find a bunch of words that would get him from the edge to the goal (like if you were given more words than you needed to use), etc. Or if there were no given words, you just had to find some in there to create a path, like you could only use x words but you had to find ones in good locations, or other ways to use words as a resource.
Overall, interesting concept, but it's just a seed at this point!
