Good start. Controls feel solid and responsive. Physics and collision geometry are all good. I would personally tweak the attack and decay of the movement down a little bit. I don't care for up as jump, but that is personal preference. The attacks are cool, I like the timing of them. Might be difficult to hit enemies with the thrown object, especially on a slope. Releasing the jump button should taper off your jump. Best way I've found to do this without it feeling janky: just cut their Y velocity in half (or even by 2/3rds) when the button is released. Doesn't seem like there is a terminal velocity, so when I fall from the top of the stage to the bottom I get moving really fast.
Keep it up, this is a very solid beginning.
