I played the single player mode to explore the depths and indulge in some sweet Pelican poetry.

My main strat was to use the #1 Boss mug to get that sweet healing field upgrade, which then led to the #1 betrayal in Hadal calm history when the slightly larger fish boss coopted it and killed me without big fanfare. In that moment I truly felt Hadal Fear™ like that one track title.

But I think that's the most fun aspect of your game, trying out the different weapons and seeing what works for you and what doesn't. I had a good time exploring the options. Looking forward to testing the multiplayer again too on stream.

Still very fun gameplay, and the addition of the single player with its maze exploration is a good fit for that I think. Great work!

none of the characters are super cute except the shark head guy

theres alot of gun variety which i like but most of the guns i picked up were kinda slow projectiles so the best strategy always seemed to be backpedaling away from someone while spam clicking in their general direction

maybe thats just cuz the hard mode bots were just dumber than me tho,  i just always died if i tried to play more aggressively cuz id run out of blue juice so d*ng quickly and become sitting duck because it takes blue juice just to stay afloat, i rly couldnt get used to not instinctively tapping the jump button because i'm a 2D videogame character who's underwater but it always kept my freaking blue juice at 0 just from wagglin my feet!! and it recharge so slo

so i guess its alot like terraria pvp with a longer dash cooldown
i think the wackier and slower firing weapons like the iceberg, boomerang, tesla coil thing worked best but i'm biased because i'm slow and wacky
i love shark head guy

Thanks for playing!

Fuel regenerates pretty quickly, but it only regenerates after not being used for a couple of seconds which isn't really explained in-game. Hoping to address this soon as well as add a visual indicator of when the regen is kicking in.

Artifacts (equipped at the reliquary) can also help address that as well as fuel pickups (the lightning bolt things) in the map. I'm seeing that these mechanics really need to be explained clearer in the game somewhere

Thanks for playing! The eggplants were intended to be used as currency to unlock weapons/upgrades, but everything is automatically unlocked for the purposes of the demo. The arena does have bots on as default in singleplayer

Hadal Calm is a game that needs a lot of work in the visuals department. UI design would help too. But the underlying game mechanics seem pretty solid.

I feel like this game suffers from feature creep. There is too much to do without really having any pointers as to where to go. The gameplay itself feels nice, but there are so many guns and upgrades that it becomes hard to tell what you picked up though that might just be my inexperience. Something to note is that in the aggydaggy arena in matryoshka mode it is possible to get inside the letters  if you get small enough while your opponent is too big to get in. This can be abused by sore losers to get their opponent to rage quit. The music is 10/10 though.

Thanks for playing and you're 100% right about the feature creep + directionlessness. The dev focus has been on multiplayer but changes have bled into singleplayer in ways that don't really make sense. Hoping that a progression system to drip-feed modes/weapons/upgrades will help with that. For now, the intended single-player experience is reaching the hub in the tutorial and then just playing with bots in the arena.

Thanks for pointing out the size issue. I hadn't added Matryoshka mode when I made that map. Some of the bird photo maps probably have a similar issue
