  • There are some pretty cute heroes in here. I really like games where you can capture enemies so it would be cool if you could deploy them on your side later.
  • The simulation progresses based on the AI instead of the player which can lead to a lot of waiting. I think this needs ways for the player to force the AI to progress.
  • Some resolutions the UI is cut off, or the scaling is too small. Unity doesn't have good controls for selecting options in the launcher but you can prevent resolutions you don't want to support inside the game.
  • For the scaling I think it might make sense to allow zoom(done by scaling) in-game but default it to something that roughly gives the same viewable area to players on startup regardless of resolution. IIRC you are using the 2 camera/render texture method but you would have to add one more camera and render texture if you want to do this

Pretty neat idea, and it's easy to see this becoming a great puzzle game. It seemed a bit easy to just spam tiles and flood the heroes, and outlines for heroes would help a lot with the readability. Keen to see where you take this

I have never played a game in this genre (if another exists) but I can definitely see the appeal in it if only I had more time to give it. Even though I ended up trying and failing 5 times (two of those times the ranger and wizard refused to leave the starting room even though the knight and thief had ventured out already and no enemies were close by to prevent them from joining the other two) I still found myself wanting to try 'just one more time'. Surprisingly I wasn't annoyed by the music at all (in fact I would say it complimented the game very well and kept everything buoyant and approachable. Had it been more serious music I probably would have given up after a second try out of frustration from not being able to completely understand the game).

It would be pretty nice if you continued to work on it just to see where it ends up!
