Excellent game, smooth gameplay, graphics, and music. The charge shot is a little wonky with gamepad controls so I recommend a keyboard & mouse.

Legacy Code is an roguelite action platformer. Smash drones, beat up (evil mutated) forest animals, learn the movement, and cover the walls with blood! The demo here is really old, a new one will be out SOME time. Follow our progress here...

This build focuses on testing and refining the battle system for the greater, fuller game. The dungeon you run around in is a placeholder mostly. I'm still working on the camera there too. The starting cabin is closer to finished. If you lo...

Definitely enjoyed this demo. Gameplay is fun and I can definitely see how it could be expanded upon with the inventory (and class?) system. None of the enemies or bosses were particularly challenging, although they did take some careful consideration of their patterns. The platforming itself works well, although the walljump needs some improvement; it works only half of the time and for a large part seems to ignore my imput, no matter what I try. Another criticism with regards to platforming would be falling damage. While there's nothing wrong with it (especially since the double jump cancels everything out), it would be nice to give some sort of indication of taking damage, as it can really sneak up on you without you noticing.

There are some glitches here and there, where the character is almost magnetically drawn to a certain area or platform. On one occasion I got stuck in a wall, and on my latest playthrough, the game crashed at the final boss.

Overall an enjoyable experience, I'd like to see how you will implement the RPG elements in the future and how choices such as saving/killing your sister influence the narrative. Love the fact that there's an optional path with an extra boss, giving you a bonus item. I definitely hope to see more of that in the future as well.

A downloadable game for Windows.

For a game with the status "prototype" this is extremely well polished. The graphics are great and the BGM is suitable and fun to listen to without being distracting. Sound effects themselves are great as well, especially the gun sound almost visceral. Gameplay is challenging but fair once you get the hang of it; I don't think I ever died due to anything other than my own fault.

Some criticisms then:

-Aiming seems a bit off every now and again. The aim locks into the direction in which you were last moving, though a dedicated button to lock the character into place whilst being free to aim in all directions would be great (similar to some Metroid games, for instance). The dedicated aim buttons that allow you to shoot in left, right, up or down direction wouldn't be necessary then, as these are unintuitively placed (at least on an Xbox controller, where the left thumbstick is used to move, but the D-pad directly below it is used to shoot up and down).

-It's unclear when you lose your shield and by what criteria, and I couldn't seem to retrieve it once I died. If there are armor-recharge/reequip-stations or whatever planned then it makes sence, but for now it seems kind of strange.

And that's about all really, I enjoyed the demo and definitely hope to see more of it in the future.

For a combat only prototype the character design (and execution therefor) is absolutely stunning. Moving the character is fluent and responsive (though an invertable X-axis would be a nice addition to the already invertable Y-axis) and also weirdly fun, due to the fact that the character glides above the surface so gently.

Combat itself is relatively simple, though it took me a while before I cleared the area for the first time. I like the fact that each button has its own weapon, but I do feel that either none should have a charge attack, or none should have a charge attack, so as to keep things balanced. Dashing works pretty well, though it's a bit limiting to be able to dash strictly forward.

Still, overall a great proof of concept and I can't wait for future demos!
