Amazing game very nice work and amazing narrative design also The backgrounds are incredible.
The visual and character design work together harmoniously with the audio to produce such an atmospheric experience of Altair 4. Mechanically and visually perfected, with very useful accessibility options.
While a lot is left up to the player to discover, I personally (and I want to emphasize the 'just me' part here) felt that too much was left to the player. I struggled to figure out how to use the tool bag, then discovered through a video play through that right clicking it would open it, but from my understanding right click was to 'look at' objects. Then I had to continue to right click on it to get additional items.
One last section I was severely stuck at was the end monkey paw wish, thanks to the aforementioned video, I knew I had to use it in the living room. I continuously tried to use it in the bedroom, much to my dismay.
Regardless of the above, the game itself is a true work of art, audio, and narrative design coming together to produce an atmospheric, emotional, and semi-engaging experience. Congratulations to you and your team on this game.
Thanks for playing and mostly fair comments. Some things (like the bag) I left in knowing it would trip some people up. I guess I’m leaning on older PnC games where it was common to right click on everything just to see what it was. Especially a container. But I understand the issue and sorry you got bitten by it. I’d smooth it out or alter it for a commercial/non-jam release. Just not enough (well, no) time to playtest or see others playtest during the jam.
On the pw, yes to that one too. Voice had gone out so I didn’t really want to put in extra lines that were non voiced. I suppose I could have added “No reason to carry it right now” or something. Well noted.
The voice acting really does take it to a whole new level. The backgrounds are incredible and the bird's eye map is hugely nostalgic. Absolutely amazing how much work went into this, I hope you got some sleep this weekend :D
I enjoyed it a lot! Amazing how quickly you established such a great atmosphere! ✨
I would really like to see a longer story set in this world! 🙂
Thank you very much for your effort! 💜
(Tiny bug report for version 1.3: when I switch to "subtitles only", all text only appears for a fraction of a second.)
Great graphics and sound/voice part - I really like the superb sci-fi setting - a bit less the paw-forward part (already knowing it - and having more or less no interactions).
Anyway - the overall feeling is quite high - congratulations :-)
Thanks Marco. I’d have added more interactions but it was a new engine to learn and I was just pushing to get it done to a level I was happy with. I’d love a 2.0 version with 2x the puzzles up front and some form of dialogue puzzles and some items in the back half. But I’m ok with it also being a visual novel. It works well for people that don’t know the story?!
Look forward to playing your game soon.
The art and voice acting are great. Such an awesome vibe. Wasn't able to leave the bluff for some reason (might've been my fault). Either way great job with the aesthetic of it all!
There was an issue with one update where I broke something in v1.1. Could lead to clicking on something and the game just stopping. Not clear how you were stuck on the Bluff. You should always be able to click the exit and walk back left to the Overlook. In any case the current v1.2 seems solid if you give it a try. If you’re stuck on a puzzle let me know :) you can save by quitting or hitting F5.
Thanks for trying it in any case.
This was really fun to play! The visuals are amazing and the story is interesting. I rarely see game jam games this polished so good job!
Great game. Got a bit stuck near the start as I was puzzled about a hotspot with no interaction, and I missed a couple of hotspots that were less obvious, but overall, a nice little game which really kept me engaged. Spent about 40 minutes on it all told.
I love the aesthetics, theme and story, and what is pretty uncommon for gamejam games feels really polished and smooth.
Beautiful visuals. I completely missed one of the hotspots in the shed and got stuck right in the last puzzle haha. The last part was a nice adaptation of the original story but I liked the more interactive half more.
Happy birthday.
Thanks for playing. I’ll return the favor once I wind down a little.
I assume you missed the turbine switch?
Agree on the first half vs second half. It was my first time with a new engine and I just had too much to do. I wanted to weave in more things to do in the second half (and even the first) but was just unsure if I had time to even finish what I had. I only had it playable start to finish the last 3-4 days of the jam and by then it was all voice, sound effects and general polish!
A very good graphic adventure that gave me some "Other World" vibes.. I enjoyed the first part more as the second bit is more "obvious" if you are familiar with the original tale. Overall Great Job.
Really beautiful looking game. Liked playing as an old man. Great job!
