This was fun to play, the only annoying part was finding the right lockers, some locker numbers would have helped. Anyway, well done!

What do you like about your game?
I did everything from scratch for this jam, music, art, code, etc (except for fonts and some sfx) and it turned out to be a fairly complete game, that was quite an accomplishment for 2 weeks of nighttime coding

That's really impressive that you managed to do all of that in 2 weeks. I had a hard time with some puzzles. Thanks for including the solution on the itch page :)
surprisingly long game for this jam, good game. only part i struggled with was finding out the name of the librarian it was right in front of me
I kept trying to press E on the password keypad, it took me a while to figure out it is left click instead.
The game is good, I prefere longer games.
When it comes to style my only critique would be the black vignette. Maybe it would look better with some alpha transparency? I have PTSD from non-transparent overlays ever since I equipped minecraft pumpkin on my head for the first time.
I had a hard time with the puzzles but I must say I loved the whole espionage vibe and the level of polish. The soundtrack is so smooth too I kinda want it on spotify or youtube so I can keep listening to it!
Great work :)
Really impressive that you did everything in the game yourself. The most satisfying thing to figure out for me was the 6 digit combination, that whole sequence was just done well. The PC logging part was pretty cool too. Lots of nice little things in this game. Well done on this!
Graphics are simple but nice and original for this jam
The game feels polished
The answer to some puzzles might be a little too "hard"/"random", but the tips help, and I definitely like the text at the top left for little me that doesn't have any memory
The story is nice and goes well with the game, and even the choice for the graphics (preventing it being "gore")
Would have liked the npcs to say something else than "Don't have time to talk to you" when the quest is to talk to one ; maybe putting random dialogues shared among npcs?
Best game ever wow. The puzzles are incredible, the story is amazing, the art is pretty cool. And the music, mama mia. I'm amazed you did all that in just two weeks. Really well done!
very nice game! Im not good for puzzle games, but this one looks so pretty. Good work!
Wow, it's cool to see so much variation in the puzzles considering this was done in 2 weeks. My favorite puzzle was breaking the ciphered message in the journal by extracting English structure from the text, very fun. I admit I had to use the guide to complete it, so maybe some extra hints in the game would help, especially numbering the lockers and hinting more about passwords, but I'm glad you wrote it up so I could experience the whole thing!
impressive, quite a big game to have made in just 2 weeks.
i wasn't able to complete all of it though
This game is great, it screams that a programmer made it (or a disgruntled IT person).
Art is awesome and the telegraphing on all the puzzles is all super intuitive to solve quickly/reasonably using deduction (only confusing thing was the term "tally", but i guess it can be deduced; although my paranoid mind probably would think i just miscounted or should be taking sum total. tbh it might just be a me problem). The cipher live-replacement was especially cool to see.
I liked the plot and all the flavour dialogue, it gave the world a lot of life. Time loop stuff usually only has a couple of expected outcomes. It is good that it was comprehensible though (versus all the insane incomprehensible impossible time loop plots)
The music is absolutely incredible, seriously gotta get released as its own track. Absolutely monster synths.
Congrats on the release
Thanks so much for the fantastic review and for going through the entire game, I think for a puzzle-detective game I seriously lacked in playtesting with other folks to adjust the quality of the puzzles. It's so hard to aim for that aha moment without being obvious or completely obnoxious.
thanks also for the compliment on the music, few people notice it's handmade for the jam, but it did take some time to put together :)
I finished the game! I had to use the walkthrough a few times, in my opinion there's a decent number of clarity issues ingame but it was pretty fun nonetheless.
Positives:
I like the voxel art style, it's pretty cute. The sound and general atmosphere is nice. I really liked the letter puzzles, those were really clever and felt good to complete. The ending is pretty interesting.
Negatives:
I think it's ok to not specify which bathroom to go to, but to do so at the start of the game is a bit jarring. When the game tells you to go to a specific locker, I was never able to figure out which one at first (why is the first locker the last one in the back?) I do like the puzzle with the scale, but it wasn't clear to me that it was actually a drawing of a scale so I had to look at the guide. I know one person says what the default password is but I think it could have been more clear that the librarian is using that password.
Even though it's a puzzle game where you have to figure stuff out, I think it's important to make some things more obvious for the player to be on the right track. I don't mean to rag on you or diminish what you've accomplished, I just think it's important to keep this game design stuff in mind. I also don't play these kinds of games too often so it could also partially be a skill issue.
Thanks so much for such a detailed review, and I completely agree with all your concerns. I wish I had had more time to do some external playtesting, I think most people faced the same problem that you did, and it would have been easy to course-correct those details and not make it a frustrating experience while still keeping it interesting. Thanks again for playing through the entire game!
I'm sorry, I only played up to the bathroom stalls because I didn't know what to do... I also got stuck on the toilet for like a minute before figuring out you have to interact with the toilet paper to get up. The environment and characters seem pretty well designed though. I also like the sound design and music.
It was neat. I like these small puzzle games.
- I gave up at the book counting section because I screwed up the count twice and the walk through section seems to be missing?
- The part where youâre labeling letters should probably have a check off of âcorrectâ letters youâve found.
- The keypads and locker stalls need number BAD. This is the fifth locker:
That was awesome, eventhough i got stuck for 15 mins on the man's toilet trying to find something, only to discover the female one. I got stuck again on the orange, green puzzle. I think my brain is mush. I would love to play it again, i can't see the walkthrough spoiler for some reason. A very well made game and highly polished with an interesting story. I am very impressed. I'll play again.
